Wkly Hit List, 3/29/2025

March is coming to an end soon KlicKNettars, which means that we have made it three months into the year 2025. When April comes around, it's gonna be full steam ahead for KlicKNet as we intend to create new content in the spring. NCAA March Madness continues this weekend with the Elite Eight set and only teams like Auburn, Michigan State, Florida, Texas Tech, Duke, Alabama, Houston, and Tennessee left to play. If one of them is your favorite, then give them a round of applause for making it this far in the Men's Tournament, but also wish them the best of luck in trying to advance to the Final Four taking place in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. In other news, the 5-Day Rounder has a unique situation, this week there's only one stories about sports in it, while everything else is about upcoming movies from different studios, either have a look through.

Our Inside Scoop this week is about the two new episodes of Marvel Television's Daredevil: Born Again that dropped this week on Disney Plus. Before we go any further I wanna say that I felt that these two episodes were like a full 2-Hour Event like they do on broadcast networks. Since, the series began, we have seen Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk both struggling with trying do things differently in their lives, and by doing that means to do things by the books. But the sad, or perhaps exciting truth is that either one of them can escape their pasts and that means they're both about to play dirty just like in the good 'ol days. That my friends will make damn good television as the season moves on, so please be seated and lemme tell you what happened this week. WARNING: This piece may contain spoilers, so if you haven't seen Daredevil: Born Again Episodes Five and Six yet, stop reading now. If you would like to continue at your risk, then be my guest.

It hard to put into words how much I loved Episode Five because it's mostly about Matt Murdock being Matt Murdock, or should I say being "a really good lawyer" who's blind. Everything takes place on St. Patrick's Day and Mr. Murdock is at a bank to talking to the assistant bank manager about a loan for his law firm. The assistant manger happens to be Yusuf Khan, the father of Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, he even mentions that his daughter is in California with some friends while the episode is taking place. Some might say that this is a tease in which Kamala is forming her team of young heroes, and just to go off topic real quick, insiders believe that Marvel is trying to put together a Disney+ series called "Champions," instead of Young Avengers movie, simply because of how bad The Marvels did at the box office in 2023, and because the actors who would star in this project are getting too old to be called the "Young Avengers" at this point. Reports say that Rachna Fruchbom has been hired to be a writer (and presumably show runner) for Champions which could start filming in 2026 and be released after Avengers: Secret Wars

Anyway back to Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock's application is denied by Yusuf due to his firm's penchant for taking on clients who cannot afford to pay, well that might have a lot to do with it. Matt leaves very disappointed, but then he's drawn back to the bank for a much different situation at hand, for a gang of Irish mobsters try to steal from the vault inside. While the head bank manger is out sick, the mobsters use Yusuf to get into the vault; they believe it contains the $1.8 million dollars that their boss needs to pay off someone else, but Yusuf knows something that they don't. Matt comes back just in time and finds himself among the other bank hostages, the police soon arrive and the gang's leader Devlin talks with Detective Angie Kim, who we saw in the first episode. Kim desperately tries to negotiate with Devlin who demands that she entertains him by telling a funny joke, which is pretty odd if you ask me, but Kim tries her best. Meanwhile, Matt takes out two of the robbers while Yusuf stalls for time at the bank vault, Matt eventually gets to him and helps with opening the vault.

Once opened, we find out that the vault doesn't have bags or packages of money, or even giant stack of gold bars like other banks do, just a long row of safe-deposit boxes, however there's a rare diamond inside that the robbers are targeting and believe can help their boss out tremendously. Matt comes back and pretends to give the diamond to Devlin as the police enter the bank, as hostages are running for their lives, Devlin gives the parcel to an accomplice, who later realizes that it's not the diamond. Devlin meanwhile disguises himself as a police officer and tries to escape, but Matt wears a mask and beats him down in impressive fashion. With all the mobsters in jail, Matt returns to the bank sometime later, Yusuf thanks him for all his help and offers Matt dinner with his family. Matt graciously agrees and secretly returns the diamond in a bowl of candy sitting on Yusuf's desk. This episode was pretty light hearted, but it just goes to show that Matt can be a hero in the daytime as well as the nighttime, which brings us to Ep. 6.

It's worth nothing that the Irish Mobsters were working for a man named Luca is part of a criminal organization called the Five Families, which is headed by Wilson Fisk's wife Vanessa. After the failed robbery, Luca visits Fisk who we did not see in the fifth episode at all last time, but Fisk refuses to pay the $1.8 million dollars for him. Instead, Wilson Fisk raises the amount to $2.8 million and gives Luca a week to pay it. Elsewhere, we are introduced to a new bad guy who some comic book fans know as Muse, and Fisk learns from the city's sanitation department that Muse is using human blood in his street art. Muse later leaves the bodies of two victims next to a new mural as public confirmation of his actions, and you almost imagine how New Yorkers are feeling about this, but their worries could be over in a hurry.

At a fundraiser, Mayor Fisk learns about the dead bodies and many of the city's elites, including socialite Jack Duquesne, none of them are happy about it and they're also against his port rebuild plans. I just wanna go off topic again and say that it nice to see another familiar face from another Disney+ series appear in this one, Jack Duquesne was in Hawkeye four years ago and seems to be doing pretty well for himself as a Vigilante known as the Swordsman, at least that's what I think he's called.  In order to deal with Muse, Fisk establishes an Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) with additional powers and recruits notorious police officers such as Powell and former detective Cole North. This most certainly isn't going to end well in the next few episodes next month, so keep your eyes peeled KlicKNettars.

We get the return of Angela who believes that her Uncle Hector was investigating Muse before his death and asks Matt Murdock to continue his work. Matt refuses at first, but she takes matter into her own hands and sneaks into Muse's lair, Muse abducts her. Once Matt is alerted to her disappearance, he realizes that enough is enough and finally decides to suit up as Daredevil once. He finds Muse's lair and rescues Angela, but Muse unfortunately gets away. Still it doesn't matter because Daredevil is back and BADDER than ever, and just in time too. You see while all of this was taking place, at the same time Mayor Fisk decides to deal Adam, the man who was sleeping with his wife. He gives Adam an axe and challenges him to a fight in which Fisk beats him and drags him back to his cell. So it's safe to say that Kingpin is back and with three episodes left in Season One of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, we're in for a wild ride.
