It started out with the name iAmKwame.com Studios and then it evolved into KlicKNet, and now it's the home of the Wkly Hit List. We also plan to discuss what exciting new things we have in stored for this blog beyond 2024, so stay tuned for that one. Our Inside Scoop this week regards a new development within the Georgia election interference case against former US President Donald Trump. This case has peeked our interest along with the January 6th Case headed by Special Counsel Jack Smith which at the moment doesn't seem to be moving anywhere. But the Georgia case headed by Fulton Country District Attorney Fani Willis certainly is, and she intends to get back on track with the prosecution against Trump after facing allegations of misconduct related to an affair with her former co-prosecutor Nathan Wade. Wade chose to resign from the case after details of his relationship with Willis were brought to light in court, and Willis, who has denied allegations of impropriety, remained on the case while Judge Scott McAfee denied Trump's lawyers their requests to have her removed permanently.

However, the Georgia Court of Appeals is reviewing whether to overturn the judge's ruling and remove Ms Willis from the case, a move that has slowed the legal proceedings and makes it unlikely that the case will go to trial before the presidential election in November. This week, it was reported that Fani Willis is trying her hand on a move that could undo something that was done a few months ago. This past Thursday, Willis appealed the judge’s decision to dismiss several counts in the Georgia election interference indictment against Trump and several co-defendants. Back in March, Judge McAfee quashed six counts in the indictment, including three against Trump, saying the counts did not allege sufficient detail regarding the nature of the violations of election meddling.

Some have looked at the ruling as a setback for Fani Willis on top of everything else going on, though it did not entirely wipe out the sweeping indictment against Trump as he still faces 10 counts against the prosecution. If the the Judge's decision is reserved, then the number of counts will go back to 13, and three other charges will return to the other codefendants. Honestly, I thought that we would have more to say about Fani Willis' attempt to appeal, but it looks like I've said what I've said, but I will give my final review about all this. It's no secret that heading into the year 2024, Donald Trump was in a lot of trouble having to deal with so many criminal cases against him. There's a lot of talk regarding his Hush Money trial right now in New York City, and if by some off-chance the jury and the judge find guilty, there's no telling how it will affect the 2024 Presidential Election coming this November. We will continue to keep a close on what's going on in Georgia, and we hope that Judge Scott McAfee will decide when the trial for that case begin soon.
