There's a brand new episode of FakeTV Box available now on our YouTube channel, it might the last one of the year, but 'never say never' as they say. In this episode, we'll discuss a couple of announcements that Universal Destinations and Experiences made regarding DreamWorks Land at Universal Studios Florida, the Universal Resort coming to Texas, and the new Resort Hotels that will be added to Epic Universe in 2025. Watch all 24 minutes of this new episode in the Biggest Peek of the Week.

All-New at Universal: DreamWorks, Universal Kids & Epic Resorts – FakeTV Box

In what could be the last Inside Scoop of the Year, I thought we could talk about something fun for a change. It's funny how our latest episode of FakeTV Box was centered on Universal Attractions, and didn't mention what Universal Destinations and Experiences announced just over a week ago. I am referring to Donkey Kong Country, an expansion placed adjacent to the Mario World-themed area of Super Nintendo World, opening in Spring 2024 at Universal Studios Japan. It's only dawning on me now that we didn't include this in the All-New at Universal episode, it feels like a crime much bigger than the Domestic Violence Trial against Jonathan Majors. I'm saying he's innocent, that's up to the jury to decide.

A video was posted on Universal Studios Japan's account on the site formerly known as Twitter, with the camera showcasing life in Super Nintendo World. In some sort of drone fashion, the camera flies directly down into the Mushroom Kingdom, then goes under an arch and then through a the mysterious red and yellow warp pipe which has been there since SNW first opened in Japan in 2021. There's a bright light and then we step into the jungle world of Donkey Kong, next we see Kong houses, Kong drums, and possibly the Golden Temple from the Super Mario Bros. Movie. Last but not least, we have the Big Guy himself, Donkey Kong, he is riding the Mine Train coaster with his son Diddy Kong, before the camera zooms out we se an overview of the Mario and Donkey Kong Lands at Super Nintendo World, it's two worlds in one and always twice the excitement at Universal Studios Japan.

When these attractions open along with Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida, there's gonna be a whole lot of "Monkeying Around." So what exactly does Donkey Kong Country have to offer in Japan, well here's a little deep dive into that. The Universal Studios Japan website was posted certain details on its sub-land opening next year. It starts with this statement that they obviously came up with themselves, it says: "Immerse yourself in the world of Mario and friends and enjoy it to the fullest. Enjoy the thrill of not knowing what will happen in the jungle with your new friend Donkey Kong. Before you know it, your body and mind won't stop pounding! This is the only place in the world where both children and adults can return to the wild and immerse themselves in playing games with Mario, Donkey Kong and the others."

It continues by saying: "Once you step into it, you will find yourself in a different space filled with dense wild greenery! In this jungle where Donkey Kong and his friends live, there are many wild adventures, such as jumping out of the "Golden Shinden" in a mine cart and running through the mines, and trying out play experiences that use your entire body! In addition, food and goods that you want to enjoy in the middle of the jungle are appearing one after another! Now, awaken your playing instincts and explore the surprising world of Donkey Kong!" According to the very reliable TDR Explorer Website: "Guests are invited to “Play Wild” and enter the world of the popular game franchise, complete with a state-of-the-art roller coaster attraction, interactive experiences, and of course, a tonne of exclusive merchandise." The site goes on by saying that "the expansive Donkey Kong new area is approximately 1.7 times larger than the entirety of the Super Mario Bros area of Super Nintendo World."

Thanks to the Power Up Bands that introduced when SNW opened in 2021, guests will be able to participate in interactive mini-games and collect the letters K, O, N, and G – in fact, Donkey Kong Country area will greatly expand the “play experience” established within SNW with even higher interactivity. New Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong Power Up Bands will be introduced, along with Minecart Madness, the state-of-the-art roller coaster developed in cooperation with Nintendo video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, a name that I won't even attempt to pronounce. Inspired from the “Donkey Kong Country” video game series which debuted in 1994 and has since expanded with five mainline games, this thrilling coaster attraction will transport guests into the game itself, complete with barrel blasts and an innovative track design, creating the illusion of minecart vehicles jumping across gaps.

Universal Creative has made some great immersive experiences for themed lands like Harry Potter, Minions, and Jurassic Park, and they've done it again by developing a new and innovative coaster design that departs from traditional ideas of rides and attractions, offering an unpredictable experience. You should take a look at all the merchandise they got for this place, they're so cool they'll make you go bananas! Get it?! Bananas?! Man, I wish I had some bananas on me. But anyway, according to the TDR Explorer the Donkey Kong Country collection includes a headband featuring Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong in barrels, an assortment of "omiyage and treats." The treats came be found in collectable containers themed to DK barrels and golden banana coins.

So IMO (in my opinion), if some of you KlicKNettars live in Osaka, Japan then you're probably gonna be blown away once Donkey Kong Country has completed construction and you and families will have a great time. Those in Japan have no idea how lucky they are to get this kind of land early next year, while there's already a Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood, it doesn't have its own DK Country and theme park goers in the United States seem to much rather the Super Nintendo World coming to Orlando, Florida since it going to be one the flagships of Epic Universe. Nonetheless, Donkey Kong Country at Universal Studios Japan will be something for both kids and adults to play, laugh and scream over once it opens to the public in the Spring of 2024.
