So a lot has happened since the last time I was typing on this blog, though we would like to point a few things. Venom 3 has resumed filming now that the SAG-AFTRA Strike, and the same goes for Deadpool 3 which resumed filming on Thanksgiving. While Tom Hardy's Venom is entirely part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aside from that cameo he did in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool will be integrated into the MCU when he comes back to theaters July 26, 2024. This will be the only MCU film to be released in 2024 and just in case some of you don't know what the MCU Calendar looks like right now, our Sneak Peek of the Week will give you a clue.

The COMPLETE MCU Phase 5 & 6 UPDATED RELEASE DATES SLATE

Our Inside Scoop this week concerns Scream, and I do mean the Scary Movies with Ghostface and all. It's easy to say something nice about this fan favorite horror slasher franchise, some of the 6 Scream Movies are good and some of them are bad. I wish I could tell you right now what I like the most about Scream but unfortunately I can't do that. We have to talk about the mind-boggling news this week regarding Melissa Barrera getting fired from Scream 7 and Jenna Ortega not being available for even a cameo in the next installment.

Of course we gotta start from the beginning of how production of this movie has failed to move off the ground. It all dates back to the WGA Strike and SAG-AFTRA Strike. Writers were on strike for 148 days, while Actors were on strike for 118 days, and between May 2nd and November 9th this year the Double Hollywood Strike lasted for 191 days. So the script for Scream VII could not be written during this time and none of the actors of the franchise could say of they're going to be in the new Scream movie or not.

Once both strikes were over after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA both came to agreements with the Hollywood Studios, writers and actors could go back to work ASAP. Side Note: Back in August, it was announced that Christopher Landon wrote most of the Paranormal Activity movies and who directed Happy Death Day, Happy Death Day 2U and Freaky, would be the director of Scream VII. He obviously could no trouble announcing that since the Directors' Guild of America reached a new deal with the Hollywood Studios and didn't have to go on strike to get a fair deal.

A few days ago on November 21, I was cruising through the site formerly known as Twitter, and I saw a few tweets — and yes I'm calling them tweets not posts, sue me Elon Musk, sue me!  — the tweets I saw that "Melissa Barrera was reportedly fired from Scream VII." Just a few hours, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline and Variety confirmed this to be true. The reason behind why Melissa was fired is because she made social media posts in support of Palestine during the Israel–Hamas War which started back in October this year. These post were interpreted as antisemitic by the producers of Scream VII, but I'll let you be the judge of that in a few seconds, here's what she said in one of her posts:

“Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp. Cornering everyone together, with no where [sic] to go, no electricity no water…People have learnt nothing from our histories. And just like our histories, people are still silently watching it all happen. THIS IS GENOCIDE & ETHNIC CLEANSING.” When the Israel–Hamas War first started, I added a post on my IG Story that said "I Stand With Israel," but I was told by my Black American family that that's totally off limits to us. Where my people come from, me mustn't support anything involving the Middle East for there's been bad blood between Israel and Hamas, it's even amazing how Israel can be represented in events like the Olympics or Nickelodeon Global Guts.

I have been completely neutral with this war where thousands have died and many many have been held hostage, by not saying anything funny or critical about the War and focusing more on other stories, I'm able to have some credibility for myself and KlicKNet. I've seen my friends on Instagram post their sadness regarding Israel and Palestine, maybe even support them, some of have part take in antisemitic protests in places like the colleges they attend. It's amazing how supporting some like what's happening in Israel can lead to trouble or talking about it in a comedic perspective can lead to trouble. Which brings me back to Melissa Barrera who came out on social media after she was fired on where she stands in all of this. You can check out what she said down below.

Now as for Jenna Ortega, her reason for not returning for Scream VII is due to scheduling conflicts with filming the second season of the hit Netflix TV series Wednesday. But some say that she won't be returning in order to show support to her Scream co-star Melissa, either way what we're seeing here is a fan favorite franchise with a future of uncertainty. Some people have gone on social media with the hashtag #BoycottScream7 and #CancelScream7, however it has been reported that screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick who wrote Scream 5 and VI are now tasked with scrapping their first script for the movie and "starting from scratch" with a fresh one to present to filmmakers. Variety has said that Scream VII is facing a "Full Creative Reboot," it kinda reminds you of same drama Scream 3 went through in 1999 and 2000, plus Spyglass Media Group, one of the production companies who made Scream 5 and VI have Neve Campbell and Patrick Dempsey on their wish list for the seventh installment. But it they wanna start from scratch, perhaps they should call on Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding to take the lead roles as Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin so they can carry on the legacy of their uncle Randy. That's my idea, let's just wait and see what type of direction the writers, producers and director choose to go with.
