Wkly Hit List, 7/8/2023

I hope everyone had a great week with the Fourth of July and everything. We've successfully uploaded a brand new episode of FakeTV Box, although there won't be another one until July 17th. What's been real difficult for us is that we don't have anything special for the next time we film our show, fortunately the channel has been able to keep afloat with the return of FTB 60  after several weeks away.

It's safe to say that our social media platforms just got a little BIGGER. With the launch of Threads, Created By Meta, we have a new place to drop our content anytime we wish. Everything is ok with this site and just to prove it, here's a brand new 5-Day Rounder, guess that's something I'm gonna have to get use to saying from now on.

Our Inside Scoop is continuing our review and discussion over Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion. This time I'll try to write less because we just wanna talk about the interesting stuff that happened in Episode 3. We are at the halfway point in this series as wait for all the really good stuff to reveal themselves and we're likely see them beginning in Episode 4.

WARNING: This piece may contain spoilers, so if you haven't seen Secret Invasion Episode 3 yet, stop reading now. If you would like to continue at your risk, be my guest. Gravik’s revolution begins to pick up steam as his plan to transform Earth into a new home world for the Skrulls comes into focus. After a flashback from 1998 between Nick Fury and Priscilla AKA Varra, we flash forward to the present where the two are in their lovely home which Fury hasn't been around in years. Fury asks Priscilla if she's been in touch with Gravik, implying suspicions of her being part of the rebellion. After she evades the question, she talks about how she survived the Snap and mourned Fury until he returned in the Blip. But after that, instead of staying with her, he chose to run away to space. She then gets a cryptic phone call which Priscilla tells Fury isn't important, but he still has his suspicions.

Meanwhile, Gravik reveals to the Skrull Council that he intends to create "Super-Skrulls" with special abilities using different powered DNA that we saw in Episode 2. He the goes on and say that he has sent rebels to infiltrate the Royal Navy in order to launch missiles at a United Nations aircraft. Certainly all hell would break loose if this plan had worked, but we're get into why it didn't later on. Gravik meets with Talos to negotiate a parlay in the UK, but the discussion breaks down when Gravik threatens to kill G'iah. We should also talk about the scene where the different people in the restaurant shape-shifted into Gravik at the same time, it just goes to show how many Skrulls have infiltrated the Earth. After the meeting with Gravik, Talos is secretly given information about the Royal Navy attack by his daughter G'iah, and despite their differences there seems to be some reconciliation between them.

Moving back to Fury, he is still angry at Talos for letting so many Skrulls to infiltrate Earth, and rightfully so, but he reluctantly asks Talos to help him stop Gravik. They contact Falsworth and learn the name of the Naval Command Headquarters' officer in charge, Commodore Robert Fairbanks. After breaking into Fairbanks's home, Fury and Talos begin to interrogate him and learn that he's a Skrull, things get intense when Fury provokes Talos into killing Fairbanks. Talos contacts G'iah, who acquires Fairbanks's authorization code so they can abort the missile launch in time. G'iah is aware that it's only a matter of time before Gravik finds this out and kill her, so she tries to run away from the rebel base, only to be caught red handed by Gravik.

Just like with Maria Hill, Gravik shoots G'iah and leaves her for dead. At the end of the episode, Priscilla secretly contacts an unknown person, wishing to speak to Gravik, but is denied. When you think about, it's hard to tell which side Priscilla is on, having watched this episode myself I'm being to understand why Fury doesn't trust so many people in his orbit. As we wait for the next episode to drop on Disney Plus, let's hope that the series will pick up steam and with more thrills and more shocking moments so that viewers can happy with the end results.
