Happy New Year, KlicKNettars! I'm going to make this short and quick, this week the country has been in shock over two stories that have been in the news all week. One's is as emotional as it gets and the other one will leave you laughing, I think, but in the end it's almost as embarrassing as the January 6th Capitol Riot from two years ago.

Our first Inside Scoop is on Damar Hamlin, the Buffalo Bills Safety was apart of the last Monday Night Football game of the current season. Damar Hamlin collapsed and remained motionless after making a tackle on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. Medical staff rushed towards him near midfield, performed CPR and used a defibrillator before taking him in an ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. It was later revealed that he had suffered cardiac arrest and was in critical condition. The game was halted, and the two teams returned to their locker rooms. At the time, there was 5:58 remaining in the first quarter with Cincinnati leading 7–3. Like all the people who were watching, I couldn't believe what was happening, I mean i had the TV on mute and turned away from it for a few minutes and when i turned back the ambulance was on the field. I'm like "What Happened?, What Happened? Who's Hurt? What Happened?" Then I saw the Bills players and staff on their side of the field, some of them were crying and they all got down their knees praying. The commentators, reporters, announcers and analysis on ESPN were in shock too, after seeing the replay of how Damar got hit and then collapsed the way that he did you could tell they feeling what the players were feeling at that time, and I was feeling it too.

Just after 10 p.m. last Monday, an hour after Hamlin's injury, the game was postponed until further notice by the NFL. The following day, the NFL released a statement saying the game would not be resumed that week, but then last Thursday the league made the decision to cancel it entirely. Now here comes the crazy part, the league would go on to say that "not playing the Buffalo-Cincinnati game to its conclusion will have no effect on which clubs qualify for the postseason. No club would qualify for the postseason and no club will be eliminated based on the outcome of this game." To understand the implications for team standings and playoffs, KlicKNettars will just have to google them, but the bottom line is that both teams will finish the season with only 16 regular season games, making it the first time since 1935 in which some teams played more regular season games than the others. As for Damar Hamlin, he is doing just fine at the moment, he awoke last Thursday after his cardiac arrest was reported.

The Buffalo Bills released a statement saying, "Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours" and "while still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress." Trauma surgeon Dr. Timothy Pritts said in a conference that Hamlin was able to communicate by writing on paper or by nodding and shaking his head because he still had a breathing tube in him. When Hamlin woke up, he was able to follow commands, and had full control and feeling in his extremities. Get this, he asked who won the game between Buffalo and Cincinnati by communicating in writing on a clipboard, and according to Dr. Pritts, here's how the conversation went: "When he asked, ‘Did we win?’ the answer is, ‘Yes, Damar, you won. You won the game of life." Damar was definitely in a life or death situation and had he died, the whole world would have been shocked in disbelief. But thank god that didn't happen because numerous NFL players, teams and fans quickly offered their support and prayers on social media, even more heart warming, all 32 NFL teams changed their profile pictures on Twitter to a picture of Hamlin's jersey and text that reads "Pray For Damar." Even fans began gathering outside the University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center following his collapse. With the promise of Damar making a full recovery, it's now going to be really interesting to see what's next for the Buffalo Bills as they are favored to win this year's Super Bowl. Though the incident last Monday is proof reminding us the life of one human being is more important than any game of football, and if it could happen to him, it could happen to any one of us.

Our second Inside Scoop is a projection of who has been elected the New Speaker of the US House of Representatives. After 15 rounds of voting, the House finally elected Republican Kevin McCarthy in a narrow vote against Democrat Hakeem Jeffries 216-222. Man, I thought McCarthy would fail to win the Speakership more times than SpongeBob has failed to get his driver's license, LOL. Anyway, that's all we can report about the situation in the House; see I told you KlicKNettars I was gonna make this short and quick and I wasn't lying, LOL. But we'll have more on the chaotic House Speaker vote next week, and unlike this post I wrote, there's going to be a new 7-Day Rounder, Sneak Peek of the Week, and Celebrity of the Week.

Thank You and Have a Nice Day!
