Wkly Hit List, 8/23/2022

Character standpoint, this is the last time I'm reporting from Italy. Summer vacation is almost coming to an end and come this September, it's back to regular life. We plan on doing the first FakeTV Box back in New York City on Labor Day Monday, September 5th, and then three straight episodes of FakeTV Box September 9th through the 11th covering the 2022 D23 Expo. After today, the livestream version of Wkly Hit List will be taking a  couple of weeks off, we'll have one more Tuesday post next week on August 30th. But, both the posts and live episodes will return after the D23 Expo on a new day of the week, Saturdays. Kwame, the Creator of Wkly Hit List, FakeTV Box and KlicKNet will have a limited presence with this site and our YouTube channel due to class back in session at Brooklyn College later this week. All and all, I can't wait to see what exciting things are going to transpire as our brand is getting a face lift for the Fall season. I can tell you KlicKNettars this, the 7-Round Round-Up will also be getting a face lift, but for now it will still look like this.

Disney is in for a big month next month, with the D23 Expo as we've mentioned many times before, and Disney+ Day happening the day before the expo. We've got new series like Marvel Studios' She-Hulk: Attorney at Law already streaming and shows due to stream like Disney-Pixar's Cars on the Road and Star Wars' Andor. There's also an original documentary named "Mija," it follows "two daughters of undocumented immigrants as they navigate careers in the music industry. Seeking to provide for their families while achieving their dreams, the pair feel guilt of being the first American-born members of their families." To truly see what this documentary is about, watch this official trailer as part of our Sneak Peek of the Week.

Our Inside Scoop this week discusses two important things about the 2022 D23 Expo, but let's start with the first thing shall we? Last week, The Walt Disney Company announced it will honor 14 new Disney Legends in a special awards ceremony that will be livestream from the Expo in Anaheim, California. For a brief history report, the Disney Legends Awards have gone on since 1987, when actor Fred MacMurray (star of 1959's The Shaggy Dog) became the first Disney Legend. For well over 35 years, 304 Disney Legends have been named, including Tim Allen, Julie Andrews, Howard Ashman, Robert Downey Jr., Annette Funicello, Whoopi Goldberg, Sir Elton John, Angela Lansbury, George Lucas, Steve Martin, Alan Menken, Hayley Mills, Fess Parker, Robin Roberts, Marty Sklar, Dick Van Dyke, Barbara Walters, Ming-Na Wen, Betty White, and Robin Williams.

Looks like the D23 Expo will be celebrating a lot of things next month, not just the 100th Anniversary of Disney, but the 35th Anniversary of Disney Legends Awards. The group of 14 new Disney Legends who will be honored during the live ceremony, hosted by Tamron Hall, include Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross from back-ish, Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo from Grey's Anatomy, the main cast of Frozen: Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff, and the late great Chadwick Boseman from Black Panther. To name the rest of the group are Robert Price “Bob” Foster, Rob’t Coltrin, Don Hahn, Doris Hardoon, and Chris Montan, all which worked for either Disney Parks, Walt Disney Imagineering, or Walt Disney Studios, you gotta keep score on your own. It goes without saying that without any of these people, then we wouldn't have any of the things I'm about to list:

We Wouldn't:
  • See the incredible animation from movies like Pete's Dragon and The Fox and the Hound
  • Have our favorite Disney Parks
  • Ride on Radiator Springs Racers on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
  • Hear the original soundtracks of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast
  • Learn to respect black culture and people a little bit
  • Learn to respect mixed culture and people a little bit
  • Have met McDreamy
  • Learn to "Let It Go"
  • Be more kind to ask "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?"
  • Know the courage to journey "Into the Unknown!"
  • Learn that "Reindeers Are Better Than People"
  • Be standing on the land that is Walt Disney World Resort
  • Learn that "WAKANDA [IS] FOREVER"

We come now to the second important things about the D23 Expo is what the "heck" is Marvel Studios going to announce at "Hall D23?" Marvel Studios practically gave its Fifth and Sixth Phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at San Diego Comic-Con this Summer, they said they would save most of their reveals until D23 this September. So either they be telling lies this whole time or they really meant it. Well' right now, I'm about to give you KlicKNettars my predictions for what could be announced on the Hall D23 stage Saturday, September 10th, based on rumors from reliable rumors whom I won't give away.

In particular order:
  • The cast and director of Fantastic Four
  • The cast of Thunderbolts
  • The cast of the Wakanda series
  • Wonder Man project
  • Nova project
  • The Halloween special
  • The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special
  • Eternals sequel
  • Shang-Chi 2 sequel
  • Deadpool 3
  • Update on Echo
  • Update on Ironheart
  • Update on Armor Wars
  • Update on Secret Invasion
  • Update on The Marvels
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Trailer
  • Young Avengers project

These are my predictions, now let's see if any of them will come true at the 2022 D23 Expo.
