Wkly Hit List, 7/26/2022

Man oh man! Did I ever have fun last Saturday? FakeTV Box went LIVE for the first time in forever to cover all the breaking news out of San Diego Comic-Con Saturday. Now in my opinion, DC may have been able to offer its fans awesome sneak peeks of Shazam: Fury of the Gods and Black Adam earlier in the afternoon, but I say that Marvel Studios won the night. The Marvel panel was doing nothing but shooting fireworks all night and making the DC panel look like sparkles. We'll talk more about it all later, but I want to talk about something I realized this past weekend. I said before that I've been considering moving Wkly Hit List posts and live streams to a different day of the week than Tuesday, but I also thought to myself: "Why wait til next year when "right now" seems a lot better." So with that in mind, new posts and episodes of Wkly Hit List will remain on Tuesday until the end of this Summer, and then sometime in the Fall, they'll all be moved to Saturdays. The latest episode of FTB made me realize that even though Saturday Morning Cartoons and 2 Hour Primetime Blocks on Saturday Nights are a thing in the past, Saturdays can still be fun if you chose to do your own broadcast on YouTube, so you don't feel like there's nothing great happening on the weekends anymore. One thing I'll like about this the most is that I'll get to change the 7-Day Round-Up run from Saturday to Friday, in the meantime, it now stands as from Tuesday to Monday.

The Round-Up going from Tuesday to Monday doesn't make sense to me anymore, and I can't wait to change it when I move Wkly Hit List to Saturdays this Fall. Another thing that didn't make sense to me was something that happened last Saturday at SDCC. Not only did Marvel Studios confirm that Phase 4 of the MCU will end this year with the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11, but they said that Phase 5 will begin next year on February 17, 2023. It all kicks off with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and then ends with The Thunderbolts coming to theaters July 26, 2024. But it didn't stop there, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige gave us a sneak peek of Phase 6 of the MCU, which brings us to our Sneak Peek of the Week.

MARVEL COMIC-CON 2022 FULL ANNOUNCEMENT! (AUDIENCE REACTION)

What didn't make sense to me is that Marvel Studios said they would save most of its exciting reveals until the 2022 D23 Expo this September. We never thought they would tell us anything about Phase 6 right now, just explaining Phase 4 and 5 and the "Multiverse Saga" of the MCU would have been fine for us. I wondered towards the end of 96 minute LIVE Episode of FakeTV Box last Saturday, if they should have kept Phase 6 a secret until the Disney Expo, in other words, wait until September to reveals that there will be 2 - YES TWO!!!!!! - TWO AVENGERS MOVIES IN ONE WHOLE YEAR. Marvel Studios will release Avengers: The Kang Dynasty on May 2, 2025 and Avengers: Secret Wars on November 7, 2025. Now, I'm wondering how they are going to pull this off in three years, but if Warner Bros could put two Matrix movies in the same year, then to coin a phrase from a Basketball Hall of Famer: "ANYTHING'S POSSIBLE!"

Our Inside Scoop this week concerns Professional Wrestling, literally the only excuse for men to wear a onesie, yeah that's right babies you're not pulling it off! Put on some jeans and a button-down like a real person. Now I could talk about how well All Elite Wrestling  (AEW) has been doing lately, I could talk Ring of Honor's latest pay-per-view from last weekend, "Death Before Dishonor," but no, because we're going to talk about what's going on with the WWE and what's next for the company.

To put this out of the way, WWE Monday Night RAW returned to Madison Square Garden in New York City last night with an appearance from the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and the 20th Anniversary Celebration of Rey Mysterio's WWE Career. Then this coming Saturday is SummerSlam LIVE on Peacock from Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

But the big news isn't what's in front of the camera, it's what's going on now behind-the-scenes, last Friday, longtime Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon announced his retirement as a pro wrestling promoter. I'm amusing that some people know that McMahon was in the news last month in June for some serious allegations that led to him resigning as CEO and Chairperson. This concludes a quick recap of the past, here we come to the now and the future. After Vince McMahon's retirement was announced last Friday, WWE and its Board of Directors officially announced yesterday that in his place will a pair of co-CEOs: Stephanie McMahon - also Chairwoman of the Board - and Nick Khan - no relations to Tony Khan, the longest-tenured CEO in pro wrestling currently today.

But the changes don't stop there, WWE and the Board of Directed also announced that WWE executive Triple H will officially assume all responsibilities related to WWE’s creative, in addition to his regular duties as Vice President of Talent Relations. Finally, WWE fans have their wish and there's a new Head of Creative in town cowboys. Back when Triple H was fully in charge of NXT during its Black & Gold Era, his job included heading up creative and talent relations, so running RAW and SmackDown this way won't seem be a problem for the 14-Time World Champion. Now this brings us to what could be next for WWE. Here with answers is a channel called WrestleTalk.

BREAKING: Triple H Taking Over WWE Main Roster Creative! | WrestleTalk

Tweet from WrestlePurists

I've been a full time fan of WWE since 2005, I've seen the product change over all these years, I have seen talent come and gone, and I've seen moments that I'll remember for a long time. Knowing that Vince McMahon will no longer be in charge of Creative and someone like Triple H will take his place is huge win because it wasn't until mid or late 2014 that I started to become interested in NXT due to the incredible work that was being done by Triple H. What is very important to understand that the product on TV right now is not going to change right away, but we can expect something new outta WWE over the next couple of months. If Triple H could inject that same magic of Black & Gold NXT into the main roster, then like the song from the Black Panther: Wakanda Teaser said: "Everything's Gonna Be Alright, 'Cause We Go Be Alright!"
