This Week's UPDATES
It's finally time for me to share with you my BIG announcements. First off, this will be the last time I'll be using the title "This Week's UPDATES" Each post on this each has had many different titles over the years, it went from being a "Daily" thing to a weekly thing. The current name sounds to close to the name of a morning news show, for example: This Week on ABC. So starting new week, April 3rd, the new name for my posts will be "Wkly Hit List," Wkly is meant to pronounce Weekly. The reason I'm doing this is because I want to produce a new show with the same name on my YouTube channel that is different from FakeTV Box, only difference is that it will be LIVE on Sundays. I know I've down three livestreams on my own (2 on Facebook, 1 on YouTube) and none of them were great, but I've improved my knowledge and resources and hope things will work out better. So after I've written the Wkly Hit List, I'm going to share it LIVE on YouTube, new details will be explained next week but for now, lemme share with you the latest 7-Day Round-Up.
We are halfway through determining who will be the Final Four of the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament. Duke and Villanova have already cut down their nets and punch their tickets, today we'll see who's next. Miami (FL), Kansas, Saint Peter's and North Carolina all want to play in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, but only two can make it there. Time for our Main Topic this week, and trust me, this will be the last you'll ever hear me say the two words: main topic on this blog. We're going to pay attention to the blacklash of HB 1557, or as everyone else calls it, the "Don't Say Gay" bill. The Florida House of Representatives passed this bill just last month followed by another passage this month by the Florida Senate, now it's awaiting either a veto or signature from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. According to some of the details, this bill prohibits Florida public school districts from encouraging classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity from kindergarten to grade 3. It also allows parents and teachers to sue any school district if they believe this policy is violated, which is totally unfair. You know, I understand the reason why people calling it the "Don't Say Gay" bill, Florida officials literally do not want their citizens to say "GAY." The biggest backlash from this is that The Walt Disney Company was discovered to have dealings with the bill's sponsors late last month. Disney CEO Bob Chapek would then release an internal statement on March 7, stating that the company would not take a public stance on the bill and instead focus on affecting change through its content.
Things have gotten even worse as many individuals associated with Disney would speak out against its stance. Several Disney's subsidiaries, such as Pixar and Marvel Studios, have denounced the bill and the company's stance as well, showing their support to the LGBTQIA+ community instead. Disney employees and celebrities would stage walkouts and protest organizers would set up a website including a list of "demands for Disney to regain the trust of the LGBTQIA+ community and employees", such as the company ceasing donations to politicians that helped create and pass the "Don't Say Gay" bill. Another demand is for Disney to create an in-house brand that focuses on "on LGBTQ+ creators and underrepresented voices." If you think of how March Of Our Lives was created, it was so to take a stand against gun violence especially after the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. Students of the that Florida school had seen enough and they had more than enough, so they decided to do something about it. It's nice to see that Disney celebrities are doing something about Anti-LGBT curriculum laws in the United States and its really paying off. To see how, check out a very special #TwitterTrend highlighting the Disney walkout that occurred not too long ago.
