This Week's UPDATES

Not all of my classes at Brooklyn College are in-person, one is online on Mondays, and four are in-person Tuesdays and Thursday. They all went fantastic, it was great running into old classmates and meeting new ones who you find are in the same classes as you. That's the joy of college, it's feels like I picked where I left off at LaGuardia before COVID started to control everything, it felt like 2019 all over again when I realized that I needed to be around other people at school than sitting around at home looking after my family at the time. I cut together a new episode of FakeTV Box, highlighting the first week of the Spring semester and I'll have it out by tomorrow, before then we have a new 7-Day Round-Up to snack on right down below.

Our Main Story this week is about the Washington Commanders. Yeah that's right! The Washington Commanders of the National Football League. On 2.2.22, the Washington Football Team announced that they're changing their name to the Commanders, as most people remember, this 90-year-old NFL franchise came under scrutiny in 2020 for the use of a slur for Native Americans as its former name, the Redskins. This lead to the search for a new name and  caused Washington to be called the Football Team for the 2020 and 2021 NFL seasons. It's no secret that the new name has been given a mixed turned generally negative reaction to the football community, and it was no secret at all that this team was going be called Commanders. That's because the name unveiled a day ahead of schedule thanks to Brad Freitas, a helicopter reporter for Washington's NBC affiliate, who was flying over FedEx Field and the helicopter he was on zoomed in on a promenade in the stadium donning the team's new name "Commanders" on what looked like a backdrop. This was the second leak of the team's names five days after a Twitter user spotted that the domain, Commanders.com, had been transferred to MarkMonitor, the company the NFL uses to handle most of its domain names for its teams and brands. This was confirmed by Whois internet record listing that Commanders.com is now handling the oversight of the domain. As for the reaction towards the name Commanders, we have found a ton of them in a brand new #TwitterTrend right down.
