This Week's UPDATES
Well, tomorrow the day I head back to online learning courtesy of Brooklyn College. This will be the online class I take at home this spring, and then on Tuesday, I go to campus for two in-person meetings and two more on Thursdays. I've been waiting for this moment ever since I chose the five classes back in November, needless to say, there had been some sort of mishap in between then and now. But all is set and I'm ready for another semester and though it may not look like spring now, it will feel like when I first stepped from the doors of LaGuardia Community College in 2019. So wish me luck this week and stick around for the next 7-Day Round-Up which is right down below. ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬ ⏬
In this brand new MaxSports rundown, we have big two sports topics, and possibly a third. Last night was Royal Rumble Saturday at The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri and one expected things to go down the way that they did. Firstly, Edge and Beth Phoenix got some payback against The Miz and Maryse last night, Becky Lynch retained the WWE Raw Women's Championship, and one of the big shocks last night "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey returning to a WWE ring for the first time since WrestleMania 35 in 2019. She entered the Women's Royal Rumble at #28, eliminated four women with the last being Charlotte Flair, and now Ronda's head to WrestleMania 38 this year. The opening match pf the night was Seth "Freakin" Rollins challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship and boy was it something, Rollins came out to the music of The Shield and in his old Shield gear. This certainly irritated Roman off to no end leading to him taking a loss by disqualification, but the worst was yet to come for Rollins, He would receive multiple chair shots by Roman who still harbored hatred towards The Visionary for breaking up The Shield. Next we have the WWE Championship on the line between Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar, the way this one ended was unbelievable, Roman Reigns came out of no way and speared Lesnar, then Paul Heyman the WWE Title belt to Roman who used it to knock out Lesnar and allowing Lashley top inn The Beast 1-2-3! With Bobby Lashley now the new Champion and Heyman back with Roman again, the stage was set for the Men's Royal Rumble where Lesnar entered at #30 basically wiped out the last remaining competitors to win his second Rumble match in his career.
It quite obviously where this headed come WrestleMania in Dallas, though we don't know what to expected today as it is Championship Sunday. We'll first see the Cincinnati Bengals trying to get back to the Super Bowl for the first time in more than 30 years, but they the biggest mountain to climb this season, and it's called Mt. Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs, who at this point might be the New New England Patriots, look to head back to the Super Bowl for a third straight year so the Bengals better be ready today. This is for AFC Championship and as for the NFC Championship, it will be a Wild West Showdown in the same building where Super Bowl LVI will be held, SoFi Stadium. The San Francisco 49ers have had the Los Angeles Rams' number every time they met every season and the Niners had to beat them in the final week of this season in order to get into the playoffs. The Rams aren't too worried about what happened in the regular season, they are the host of the NFC Championship game tonight and want to host the Super Bowl in their home stadium in Inglewood, California. Honestly, I can't to for these games to go down, I wish they can all be in the Super Bowl, but there can only be two.
Our Main Story this week is the third sports related topic that we're going to talk about. I had been outside of the house shoveling snow until I had to come back inside to use the bathroom, and then I took out my phone and saw something I thought I never I see. Twitter was reporting that Quarterback Tom Brady was retiring after 22 seasons. ESPN was the first to report it, but it looks like we all might have jumped the gun because nothing's set at in stone at this point. The Associated Press, The Atlantic and NFL sources reported a much different story indicating that Tom Brady had told the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that he hasn’t made up his mind on retiring. Only he can make that decision and it looks like he will, you would think after winning 7 Super Bowl rings, 3 MVPs, and being 1st in All Time Pass YDS and Pass TDs completions, now it would be the right time to call it a career. To those of you who don't know, I never in my life liked Tom Brady when he was playing for the New England Patriots, beating up on the New York Jets left and right, though I was very happy that he left New England and went to Tampa Bay. I was very conflicted with him winning the Super Bowl last year in Tampa Bay and figured he would make to the Big Game again this year. But the Los Angeles Rams last week avoided the same humiliation that the Atlanta Flacons did at the hands of Tom Brady in 2017, and the Rams sent to Brady into retirement last week by beating the Bucs with a game winning field goal. For more on the news that Tom Brady is "planning" on retiring, let's take a look at this all-new #TwitterTrend.
