This Week's UPDATES

Guess what, I finally got to be on-campus at Brooklyn College last Friday, and while I did not have any classes that day, it was no big deal. I got a see some of the excellent buildings there, each one has blend of something looks old and something that looks blue, though I think I'm gonna like going there despite having to take one bus, ride on the LIRR and a ride on the Subway. So much sports this week, it's gonna be so sad when one of them is gonna come to an end soon. I am talking about baseball, the matchup for 2021 World Series has finally been decided, and it feature the Atlanta Braves in their first World Series since 1999. Followed by the Houston Astros look to win another World Championship in four years. Our Main Topic this week is about the shocking news on Alec Baldwin, the man who once played Mr. Conductor in Thomas and the Magic Railroad. Everybody's buzzing over the terrible incident in which Alec Bladwin unintentionally discharged a prop gun handed to him by assistant director Dave Halls. Award-winning cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed by the prop and director Joel Souza was injured in the process, one day after the shooting, Baldwin sent out a tweet expressing his "shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins". All I can say is, it's a darn shame that something this could happen, we've seen multiple mass shootings over the years, but I've never heard anything of a gun going off unintentionally on the set of a new film. This has led to debates about the use of prop guns on film and TV sets, as a Film major in college, I believe that it's unsafe to have a firearm to film with unless you are aware of the fact that it contains live ammunition. Alexi Hawley, showrunner of the ABC Drama The Rookie, announced that the show would ban live guns from set, stating that "it is now policy on The Rookie that all gunfire on set will be Air Soft guns with CG muzzle flashes added in post," sounds like a safe idea to me.
