Our Main Topic this weeks is once again on COVID-19, I've wrote many stories about this god-awful virus, must like last week when talked about President Biden and several world leaders taking part in a virtual summit on how to end the pandemic. We all know by now that they plan to do that with the United States offering vaccines to countries who need them the most. We also how Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson have created the three most popular vaccines out there, although reports have said the Moderna vaccine is most popular and most protective than the other two, and I should know. Other pharmaceuticals have made progress with trying to create some kind of treatment for this virus, but there is one that has made something that what people are calling a "game changer." In Germany, a pharmaceutical company called Merck & Co. has been working on an experimental antiviral pill that they named "molnupiravir," good luck trying to that five times fast or trying to pronounce it all. This pill is meant to reduce hospitalizations and deaths by half in people who had recently been infected with COVID-19, and findings from a recent study last Friday proves that to be true. But let's try to understand that these study results, which were released by the company, haven't been peer-reviewed at this time. Peer-review is when a group of scientists complete a study and writes it up in the form of an article, then submit it to a journal for publication. The authors may then revise their article and resubmit it for consideration, so in the case of Merck, stuff's not done yet. Even more so, the company has not asked health officials around the world to authorize its use but says it will soon, and if approved, it would become the first oral antiviral treatment for COVID-19. One funny thing about this pill is that it reminds of the trailer for The Matrix Resurrections with all of those blue pills Neo's been taking. In fact, I understand the concept of the red pill, blue pill, one shows you the real world and the other taste like raspberries. And you know Coke and Pepsi are just like the red pill, blue pill because they tastes differently and one of them makes you feel that you're living in a pre-pandemic world (Coke). As for the orange pill from Merck, it would be a miracle that this could be want ends the COVID-19 pandemic and I'll keep you KlicKNetters updated for more information, like right now of course. Here's a special health edition of the Web Choice playlist with news media outlets explain almost everything.
