Our Main Topic this week is a continuation of last week's story on COVID-19. We know that Pfizer and BioNTech have been hard at work making more and more vaccines, but more specifically the companies have made booster shots for kids ages 5 to 11 and for older people 65 and older. Some countries other than the United States have suffered greatly from the COVID pandemic and would like nothing more than it all be over soon. On September 22 last Wednesday, the White House and President Joe Biden hosted a virtual summit with world leaders to discuss how best the world can end said pandemic. Biden had previously pledged in July at the G7 summit that the US would buy and purchase 500 million Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine doses which would be shipped from August 2021 to June 2022. Now last Wednesday, Biden announced the US will buy and ship 500 million more Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine doses to low- and middle-income countries from January to September 2022. The leaders who participated in the virtual summit included United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, several World Health Organization officials, and public health officials. In my review, I think that this is good on the part of the United States to give aid to countries whose incomes have grown worst due to the pandemic and their people have died from when the virus had a stronghold on the world last year, but things are different this year now that the vaccines are out now. it's interesting to me that the US is working very close with world leaders especially now that there's a new President in office and we all know how the last one botched this whole thing last year and I believe that if not for the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Election last year might have turned out differently. There's not much for me to report on this topic, so let's turn it over to a new political #TwitterTrend down below.

Low-income countries have been left far, far behind. Just 2% of people in LICs had received at least on vaccine dose, compared to 30% in lower-middle income (LMICs), 54% in upper-middle income (UMICs), and nearly two-thirds (65%) in high-income countries (HICs).
