This Week's UPDATES

So um, tonight are the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, LIVE from L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California at 8PM EDT on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. The awards will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer whose CBS show The Neighborhood launches its fourth season tomorrow, in fact the new fall TV Season starts tomorrow, you can say that things are returning back to normal with the five major broadcasting networks after the rage of the COVID-19 pandemic cause thing to be shaken up. Most of the shows nominated for an Emmy get good ratings on TV, but the awards show itself has seen its ratings drop year after year, perhaps the show isn't fun to watch anymore and people get tired of the stuff over and over again. Either way, I employ as many people reading this to watch the Emmys tonight and show some support to the shows they love for being nominated and for the actors, writers and directors who worked year around during this pandemic to bring us these beloved shows and are now nominated for their freaking talents. That said, let's go over to the newest 7-Day Round-Up.

With only weeks left in the 2021 MLB season, the race to the Postseason is heating, although I haven't figure out what the playoff structure will look like this year. Last year 16 teams went to the postseason, and from my understanding, it will be back to 10 teams for the first time since 2019. So far, three teams have clinched a playoff spot, and they are the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Milwaukee Brewers. We'll try to keep a closer eye on the race for the postseason, all while delivering a brand new Max Sports rundown to the sports fans.

Our Main Topic this week concerns COVID-19, it's been a while since we've talked about any new developments of combating this virus, but now I think it's time for a new update. An advisory panel for the US Food and Drug Administration voted on last Friday to recommend booster shots of Pfizer and BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine for people age 65 and older as well as those at high risk of severe illness at least six months after the second shot. Considering that old people are more likely to get the virus than kids, but last  on Friday, the advisory panel rejected a proposal from Pfizer and BioNTech to allow a booster shot for people ages 16-years-old. Kids that young are going back to school they need to be fully vaccinated immediately otherwise there could be a huge outbreak like there was before. If that happens, then schools will be closed, and kids will will have to learn from home and you can't help but feel for them knowing that we've all spent more time in our houses than we do out in the real world. While it's great to know that 65-years-old will get the help need to overcome COVID-19, it's pass time that the young kids get the same kind of help from the vaccine, for it's been said many times in the news, this has become "A Pandemic of the Unvaccinated." For more on the FDA and its decision to endorses Pfizer booster shots for the elderly, here's a brand new and healthy edition of #TwitterTrend.

The FDA has already approved the use of Pfizer booster shots in people with compromised immune systems. Today an advisory committee will decide whether the Pfizer booster can be offered to anyone 16 and up.
ABC News @ABC
The FDA's independent advisory committee is convening to review data submitted by Pfizer and discuss whether a booster dose is safe enough for widespread use and whether it's necessary and effective at improving protection levels against COVID-19.

Meg Tirrell @megtirrell
FDA then asked expert panel whether healthcare workers or others at high risk for occupational exposure be included in Pfizer/BioNTech booster EUA

Yes: 18
No: 0
Abstain: 0

So recommendation is for 65+, those at high-risk of severe disease, and those with job exposure risk
