 This Week's UPDATES

Nothing has gone the way I thought it would this month of June, and there three days left and today, so there's still time for it get any worse. But out of the bad, there is good, I graduated from LaGuardia Community College, my videos on FakeTV Box are getting a little more better every time I do another, and a few days I received great news that I've been admitted to Brooklyn College in time for the Fall 2021 Semester. For the next two months, I'll be focused on making sure the transfer to Brooklyn College will go smoothly and without hitting any brick walls or climbing any hills to get to top much like the other college in Harlem. Things don't always go smoothly in the news of the world today, and this week's 7-Day Round-Up contains one story that gets much worse everyday.

The 2021 Stanley Cup Finals have now been set, and it's a matchup that nobody expect. The returning champs TampaBay Lightning defend their title against the underdogs known as the Montreal Canadiens. In MLB Baseball, players are making a good impression in order to be voted into the 2021 MLB All-Star game in Denver next month, and in the NBA Playoffs, the Phoenix Suns are one win away from making their first trip to the NBA Finals since 1993, the same year the Chicago Bulls "three-peated" as champions. Game Three between the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks is tonight and it very well could be a game changer in the Eastern Conference Finals. Our Main Topic this week is about Delta, and no not Delta Airlines, I mean the Delta variant of the coronavirus. The world is slowly retuning back to normal and no country has shown good recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic quite like the United States of America. The country and it citizens like me have been through a lot since the start of the pandemic, but we survived 2020 by the skin of our teeth even though thousands other did not. If anyone remembers from a few months ago, President Joe Biden and his administration put a goal to have 70% of adults given at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccine by July 4th aka the Fourth of July aka Independence Day aka Red, White and Blue Day aka Stuff Your Face with Food and Soda Day. However, reports are being dished out that the United States is projected to miss that July 4 goal of partially vaccinating 70% of adults, and there a several reasons why that is. For now, let's just stick with two that I think are the most obvious, #1: There are still a great number of parts in the US where Americans are unvaccinated, either because they can't find a way to get vaccinated or becuase they don't want to be vaccinated. #2: The Delta COVID-19 variant is poised to become the next predominant strain of the virus in the US. To name a few key facts, this variant has gone by different names like SARS-CoV-2 Delta and lineage B.1.617.2, it was first detected in India in late 2020, and the World Health Organization named it the Delta variant on May 31st. Dr. Anthony Fauci has warned that the Delta variant presents the greatest threat to the United States' efforts to contain COVID-19, in fact it could cause another moderate surge of COVID-19 this summer because of unvaccinated people. But luckily, Health experts say COVID-19 vaccines, like Pfizer and Moderna, offer protections against the Delta variant, so while the Biden administration is not able to reach its July 4 goal, getting the whole country vaccinated should be the only goal worth trying to accomplish. To get a better understand about the Delta COVID-19 variant, here's a #TwitterTrend that's too great to ignore.

1/3 The White House acknowledged it won't meet Biden's goal to vaccinate 70% of American adults by the Fourth of July. While the U.S. has rolled out vaccines relatively quickly, speed isn't the only component in a successful vaccination program. Read more: https://t.co/XUom8Tkk9s?amp=1

2/3 Trust and interest in getting the vaccine can become a limiting factor in the country's overall vaccination rate. The CDC said younger adults are more likely to be reluctant to get vaccinated because of concerns over vaccine safety and effectiveness.

3/3 Community trust in the vaccine is especially important when the infection rate is high. The highly-transmissible Delta variant is a growing concern for areas with low vaccination rates. It's the greatest threat to the effort to eradicate COVID-19 in the U.S., Dr. Fauci said.

The White House says more than 70% of Americans age 30 or older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. That's even though President Biden will fall short of his goal of giving a shot to the same percentage of all U.S. adults by July 4th.

At a White House briefing on COVID-19, Dr. Anthony Fauci said that 20.6% of new cases in the U.S. are due to the Delta variant.
