This Week's UPDATES

I had a day yesterday, it starts with taking a cab to the subway station, then a ride on the E and the 7, on my way to my appointment to get my first shot of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine from Rite Aid. Like I said before, or maybe I'm saying it now, the Rite Aid I went to was blocks and block and blocks and blocks away from my soon-to-be-former school LaGuardia Community College, and despite a slight setback with the transportation, I made it a few seconds late. Since being injected with the Moderna vaccine, I've had soreness in my left arm where the needle sticked me, I had stomach craps yesterday where are kinda normal, and today I can't help by notice that my right foot is in pain, but other than I'm fine. Who knows if the side effects will catch later over the next couple of days, I've been by Rite Aid that I will get the second dose of vaccine on May 29th which is about a month away. I have also been told from several other sources that this week's 7-Day Round-Up is full of groundbreaking news, check it out.

The NBA and NHL regular seasons are coming to a close soon, in fact, if there are no more delayed games in either league, they could end their seasons a day or two apart from each other. Over in the NBA, the Jazz, the Nets, the 76ers and the Suns are the first teams to clinch a spot in the NBA Playoffs, and there could be more trams clinching this week. While in the NHL, ten teams have clinched their way into the Stanley Cup Playoffs including the defending champions Tampa Bay Lightning. No matter what happens during playoff time, these are going two events to remember for years to come, and if anyone doubts that, they should at the newest Max Sports rundown the results and upcoming games from this weekend.

Our Main Story this week centers on the relationship of the United States and India, and if you think I'm about go full John Oliver mode on this, well that's not entirely true. I'm going to explain what has happened before this story broke out and what's gonna happen afterwards, in fact this piece could be used in a video on FakeTV Box, my own channel show on YouTube; so stay tuned for more information. Anyway, the White House announced last Friday that the United States is restricting travel from India beginning May 4th; this was done on advice from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The White House would then cite the reason why this needs to be done, and it brings us to the "Before" portion of our story. Before the call for new restrictions of traveling from India, there has been a devastating rise in COVID-19 cases in the country of India and potentially new and dangerous variants of the coronavirus. To get into a fe numbers, India has reported 401,911 new coronavirus cases, as it is by far the biggest one-day increase on record than any other country suffering from COVID-19, and even more so, India has reported 3,521 new deaths. The '"Indian strain" of the Coronavirus is often referred as the B.1.617 or a 'double mutant', and aside from India, it's been found in at least 17 other countries. There are more variants found in India such as:
  1. B.1.1.7 from the United Kingdom.
  2. the P1 variant from Brazil.
  3. E48K which helps the virus dodge antibodies.
  4. B.1.351 from South Africa.
  5. the N501 mutation which makes the virus more contagious.
  6. E484K which can dodge a person's immune system.
  7. the L452R variant which helps the virus escape a body's natural immune response.
All of these have cause a second wave of COVID in India much bigger than the last, and for the White House to reveal that there will be Immediate U.S. Emergency COVID-19 Assistance arriving by flight to India beginning last Thursday and continue into this week, which leads into the "After" portion of our story. After receiving their deliveries, India has had:
  • 1,100 refillable oxygen cylinders
  • 1,700 oxygen concentrators
  • Oxygen generation units
  • 15 million N95 masks
  • Supplies for 20 million doses of vaccine
  • 1 million rapid tests
  • 20,000 courses of remdesivir
  • CDC expertise
With as vaccination centers in India running out of shots and thousands of people gasping for air, the country's government may need to acknowledge that things are going to get worse before they get better. A deadly oxygen shortage is not something to be taken lightly, the Indian government has been warned censuring information and grievances posted by Indian citizens on social media about the official coronavirus response. In my belief, this means that India may need to start facing the devastating truth about COVID-19 and then explained it with its citizens, much like how America was told the same truth from our commander-in-chief who is trying to rally the citizens and government of the US in the fight against the virus. For more on this, please scroll down to a new #TwitterTrend with some of the facts we just discussed.

This does not apply to American citizens, and travel restrictions (like a negative Covid test before getting on the plane) are still in place. It also doesn’t apply to humanitarian workers.

Another source adds that the travel restrictions from India beginning next week will not apply to US citizens or permanent residents. Congressional offices were briefed on this a short time ago.
