 This Week's UPDATES

This was the month when it all began, and there are a few things I remember last March as the whole wide world started to change dramatically. Friday, March 6, 2020: Closing out the first week of Spring classes at LaGuardia Community College, it was one year ago yesterday that I went to my first Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center with my sister. The Nets beat the Spurs by the score of 139-120, it was the last game under Head Coach Kenny Atkinson who resigned the day after (Saturday, March 7, 2020) and was replaced by interim HC Jacque Vaughn. Tuesday, March 10, 2020: On the second week of spring classes, my Nets cap blew away and landed on the 7 Train line at 33rd Street–Rawson Street station, luckily some workers got it back for me. Wednesday, March 11, 2020: I returned home from school, not realizing it would be the last time I would step foot on campus for the year. Schools and college everywhere were closed and classes moved to remote learning, but it didn't end there. The coronavirus caused the cancellation of NCAA March Madness,  the suspension of the NBA and NHL seasons, the delay of the MLB season, WrestleMania not have any fans in attendance, the XFL unable to finish its season, theaters and restaurants closed, movies and shows being delayed and/or unable to finish production, and so on and so forth. One year later, things have changed, and not just for me but for everyone in the world; for private reasons, I can't explain what changes I have gone through, but I hope that they can be fixed soon. This Thursday will be one year to the day I last went to LaGuardia and now I'm working hard to be transfer into a new college, but I'm also working hard on my YouTube channel while also juggling the job of taking care of my family at home. With all of this being said, here is the newest 7-Day Round-Up and Max Sports Rundown, both of them showing where we are in the world we live in right now.

Our Main Story this week centers on the COVID-19 Relief Bill that was first passed in the House of Reps, and then the Senate just yesterday. Very soon it will be signed into law by President Joe Biden, but there's still a lot to get done before then. Right now, we're going to take a dive-in on the so-called "vote-a-rama" caused the by the chaos in the Senate. The US Senate concluded a marathon voting session yesterday, passing the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill 50-49. It took nearly 25 hours for the vote to wrap up due to debate and deliberation over the relief package, but despite this, the security of additional aid for American families, workers and businesses will soon become a reality. Some people are calling this a legislative victory for the Biden administration, and they're not wrong, even though there won't be a $15 increase minimum wage include. Here's what the Senate version of the relief bill does have:
  • $1,400 stimulus checks
  • $300-a-week jobless benefits
  • Child allowance up to $3,600
  • $350 billion state/local aid
  • $100 billion for public health
  • $170 bill for schools
  • $34 billion for ACA subsidies
  • $14 billion vaccine distribution
  • 100% COBRA subsidies
The measure now returns to the House of Representatives and House Majority Steny (Wear a Mask) Hoyer announced there'll be another vote on Tuesday. This will hopefully be the last vote so that then, it will be signed by President Biden, maybe later this week. It's not easy for Democrats and Republicans to agree on something like this, but they should understand that this one of many steps in order fight the coronavirus still with a strong hold on this country. For more facts and opinions on this passage of the COVID-19 relief bill in the senate, here's a special #TwitterTrend with a mountain of tweets.

Mitch McConnell torches the $1.9 trillion Covid bill as a "haphazard" way to spend money. He criticizes Democrats for a "partisan" vote and argues that this bill shouldn't be credited for the coming economic recovery. "Democrats inherited a tide that is already turning," he says.
