This Week's UPDATES

I went to a party last night at the same house I was last month, it wasn't a birthday cake but retirement party someone who had been doing work for MTA Service for a long time. I fell really tired right now since I was very late and i didn't go to bed until 3:30AM, but I'm here to share the news with everyone give an update on the Youtube channel, "The #fakeTV Box - Created by: KlicK Net. The debut trailer came out great and I got an A in Postproduction class because of It, but what bothers me is that the footage I took of myself came out somewhat blurry and I tried some way to fix it, but I couldn't. There were also issues with the audio so people can't hear me louder, but that's something I can fix and I'm think that the trailer will be made public on YouTube sometime between later this month and early September. With all of that being said, let's get on with the 7-Day Round-Up which has been once again dominated by COVID-19, with our President on the list as well and one big shocker of them all.

I was hoping that Joe Biden would announce his running mate sometime this weekend, but nothing at at all. It doesn't seem likely that he'll announce who it is today, on a Sunday no less, so it's looks like to it could tomorrow, August 10th. Once the name hots, we will have a special update posted on this blog with a deep dive into the running mate of Joe Biden. Our Main Story this week concerns football, have you heard that there's no such thing as Redskins in the nFL anymore, now we have the Washington Football team. We will be talking about the XFL which has been on a wild ride since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and have suffered far worst anyone could ever imagine.

On March 12, the league canceled the remainder of its regular season games over concerns related to the pandemic, the dame time when the NBA, NHL, MLS, and MLB chose to suspend their seasons and the NCAA chose to cancel tournament games in early spring. Teams only played 5 games, though the league announced it would pay all players their base salary for the rest of the season; players going to the NFL would be allowed to sign with those teams but with a clause requiring them to return to their XFL teams if the league were able to hold its championship game.

There had been plans for the league to play in 2021 if the pandemic had gotten better some point next year, but on April 10, league president Jeffrey Pollack informed employees that the league was suspending operations and that all employees would be terminated, then on April 13, the league filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, stating that the coronavirus pandemic had deprived the league of tens of millions of dollars in revenue. This would lead to a lot more problems for the XFL, it put itself up for sale and began the process of seeking a buyer in order to maximize the value of its assets to pay off creditors. Commissioner Oliver Luck was fired from his position before the bankruptcy filing, which led him to sue former Owner Vince McMahon for wrongful termination on April 21. Between May and July, the XFL had been dealing with court filings of bankruptcy while also looking for owners to breed new life into the league, as the deadline to file as a bidder was set for July 30, an auction was scheduled to take place on August 3 and a sale hearing was set for August 7 at 10am.

It seemed unlikely that anyone would be able to save this football league which had been revived after failing in 2001, but boy were their prayers answered, in the form of The Rock. On August 2, it was reported that a consortium led by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale's RedBird Capital Partners purchased the XFL for $15 million just hours before an auction could take place; the purchase received court approval on August 7. Dany Garcia had spoken days after the purchase that the league is planning a 2021 season and possibly played in a bubble environment like the NBA and NHL now. Listen to the media has to say about this ongoing saga in an all-out edition of the Web Choice playlist.
