This Week's UPDATES

What a past two weeks this has been, I wrote what might as well been my last updates on the Windows 7 PC from HP that I've had for the past nine years. I tried to add new memory chips to it and failed to get it back, so I had to write last week's updates from the Chromebook my sister brought from work, and let me tell you something, it was not fun. But last week, my prayers were indeed, my mom and I ordered a iMac Desktop from Best Buy, it has enough memory that I need to make videos from a larger computer and the Adobe softwares I need to my next class coming this summer. Right now, I'm writing this new post from the new Mac which is better than I expected, of course, the Best Buy website said it would come on the 24th of June, but came two days after we ordered it, that's what I call very very early. While I'm to be using a desktop again, I'm sorry to say that there will be no 7-Day Round-Up for this week again, fortunately, the bit will return next week as the Mac also comes with all things Microsoft.

Let's discuss the fact that pro sports will return in some shape or form this summer after the pandemic shut everything down back in March. The MLB seemed to have come up with a plan long before the NHL and NBA. but things have been faltering lately between team owners and the MLB Players' Association as either side can agree on a deal to get the 2020 season starting. The MLB Commissioner stated during the 2020 MLB Draft that there will be baseball played this year and the league will look to take matters into its own hands this week. With that being said, the newest Max Sports rundown take us through the closing rounds of this year's MLB Draft and a final look at WWE Backlash premiering tonight.

Our Main Story concerns on the ongoing debate about police brutality in America. Weeks after George Floyd was killed by a white police officer in Minneapolis and the protest and riots followed suit, another unarmed black man was shot and killed under different circumstances. I should take back what I said about him being "unarmed" as there are two different videos online that tell different sides of how all of this came about. Keep in mind, the man who was shot was a 27-year-old named Rayshard Brooks and at 10:33PM Friday Night in Atlanta, Georgia, someone called the police about a man (Brooks) sleeping in a parked vehicle in a Wendy's restaurant drive-thru lane. This caused other customers to drive around Brooks and his car, by the time the police arrived, they had given him a field sobriety test, which he failed, and soon afterwards, the chaos would begin.

For the two videos about to be shown, the first one was record by an eyewitness who was in their car and saw that Brooks had already placed his car in an empty parking spot by the time police made the scene. Brooks resisted arrest by two white Atlanta police officers and started throwing punches and ripping a taser out of one of the officer's hand, and after a brief struggle, Brooks begins to run from the officers and he is seen holding a stun gun in his right hand and one of the officers fires their stun gun at Brooks three times as he runs away. Brooks and one of the officers run by the car of the eyewitness taking the video, and after the second officer, identified as Devin Bronsan, runs by the car as well and when following Brooks, three shots are heard out of frame. I'm unable to show the the video from this post, but you can see it by clicking on this link. (Viewer discretion is advised.)

The second video which I can show comes from the surveillance video at the Wendy's restaurant. You can see Brooks funning away from the police and appears to be point the stolen stun gun at one of the Atlanta officer. Then the officer, identified by police as Garrett Rolfe, reaches down and pulls out his gun, discharges it, and strikes Brooks three times in the back as he goes down in the parking lot. (Once again, Viewer discretion is advised.)

Rayshard brooks shooting video Wendy's Atlanta

You can bet just by watching these that there was going to be protests and a riot over police killing another black man. Less than 24 hours after Rayshard Brooks' death, Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields announced she was stepping down on Saturday while the officer who killed Brooks was fired. Then, protesters decided to surround the Wendy's where Brooks was shot and set it on fire, along with a few cars that were parked near the fast-food restaurant. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, who is being considered as as potential running mate of Joe Biden, spoke about the incident in a press conference and made this following statement: "There is a clear distinction between what you can do and what you should do. I do not believe this was a justified use of deadly force." In a world taken over by a pandemic and a country that has become the epicenter of it all, this sort of issue has made things worse than ever and it's time something be done about it. When looking ta the two videos, there's no decision on whose side we should be on as the Brooks incident has been seen as a non-violent offense, but for those who want to get more reactions by the shooting, take a look at this political #TwitterTrend.

The killing of #RayshardBrooks in Atlanta last night demands we severely restrict the use of deadly force. Yes,  investigations must be called for - but so too should accountability.

Sleeping in a drive-thru must not end in death.
