This Week's UPDATES

It's been a rough rough weekend, and please understand I don't feel like talking about. But I will say this, my family and I are really getting the hang of not paying attention to the news which has been flooded by the coronavirus pandemic, we been watching movies and getting personal work done. I've been catching up with my school work, though I can't wait for when the time is right for me to go back to LaGuardia Community College. While we wait for pandemic to be over, we all have to come to grips that nothing will be the same afterwards, in fact, today's 7-Day Round-Up contains several news with the main topic being the virus.

Last Night was the Night One of WrestleMania 36, that right they split the Greatest (Live) Event in Sports Entertainment History in half considering the circumstances as to why and the fact that the past WrestleManias have gone for too many hours. As everyone knows this year's WrestleMania was supposed to take place live from the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida until it will was moved to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Eight matches took place on the main card last night, and we can expect another eight on the way tonight, though let me just say it's darn shame we won't be getting the experience we use to having on a WrestleMania Weekend, no Hall of Fame ceremony, no NXT TakeOver, no Big Stages, no Fireworks, etc. On the bright side, next year WrestleMania goes Hollywood from the all-new So-Fi Stadium, so let's pray things will return to the way they're supposed to be at that time on March 28, 2021. Time to see the results of Night One of WrestleMania 36 in a new edition of the Max Sports rundown.

Our Main Story this week is about the President of the United States of America unfortunately. He has not handle the pandemic in our nation well from the gecko as over 8,000 have died from the virus and numbers continue to grow and grow and grow every single day.  Yesterday afternoon, the President met via phone with commissioners of the NBA, WNBA, MLB, NFL, NHL and PGA Tour, as well as representatives from the UFC, WWE, NASCAR and MLS. You can probably guess what the meeting was about, to take a few key notes from it,  the President has recognized the good work being done by many teams & players to care for their communities, workforces, and fan bases across the Nation. According to a report by ESPN, the president believes that the NFL could start on time and hopes to have fans back in stadiums and arenas by August and September. The funny thing about that is that I along with the entire country hope that sports will return sooner than we hope, but we don't know much about the NBA, NHL, MLB, WWE and other sports leagues that are meant to hold events at this point of the year. See what else the president had to say and what other people are saying about his comments in an uniquely new #TwitterTrend coming up.

President Trump’s call with sports league commissioners has wrapped up.
White House spokesman Judd Deere says the commissioners “thanked President Trump for his national leadership and for his interest in the sports industry.”

In ESPN story with @AdamSchefter on White House call with pro sports leagues, Trump also raised idea of the leagues working together to lobby for tax credits that once existed to deduct the purchase of tickets and concessions.

Asked about August/September being a realistic timeframe for a return to live sports, Trump says “I’m not committing to it” but says it would be great if we could be back by then. Acknowledges it’ll depend on what the data says.

Trump says of conference call with commissioners: "They want to get back. They've got to get back. We want to get back soon. Very soon."

Ryan Kartje @Ryan_Kartje

California governor Gavin Newsom said he does not anticipate sports leagues starting by September, with full stadiums, as President Trump suggested on a conference call with sports commissioners this morning.

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun

Basically Trump hopes to have sports (and fans in arenas/stadiums) as soon as possible if safe. But who knows when that will be? From an NHL perspective, nothing changes. The NHL hopes to resume its season at some point even if it means summer hockey. But who knows if it can.

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun

Personally, I don’t think we see hockey until next season and who knows when that is exactly. But that’s just my view of the world. Obviously I hope I’m wrong.

Will Graves @WillGravesAP

And yet this from NFL doc yesterday:
"We have to get to the point that when someone is tested as positive to the virus, that does not mean an immediate quarantine. If that is the case, you can’t think about opening up a team sport.”

Projecting anything is just pointless.

Keith Olbermann @KeithOlbermann
Sadly, there isn’t going to “be an all clear.”

It’s going to come back piecemeal, with small gatherings involving no travel, first. Sports without crowds might be a mid-range thing. Full stadiums? Last.

See you in 2021
