This Week's UPDATES

We will get into the biggest news this week, maybe the biggest news of the year, or even the biggest news I have ever reported on his blog. But before we can continue, I should point that the whole world is hard at work trying to stop the spread of coronavirus, as here in the United States, we are doing what we're supposed to be doing to try and put an end to this madness. We must come to terms with the fact that this is our "new normal" for months to come, and I hope that this situation does not stretch into the fall season and affect my chances of going back to campus, for I want to end my time at LaGuardia Community College my way. While we wait to see what the outcome of the pandemic will be, let's dive into the 7-Day Round-Up which shows some good and some bad news along the way.

7-Day Round-Up
Sunday
Mariah Carey celebrates the 15th anniversary of The Emancipation of Mimi album.
Monday
Bernie Sanders officially endorsed Vice President Joe Biden for president in 2020.
Tuesday
Former President Barack Obama endorses Joe Biden’s run for president in 2020.
Wednesday
Elizabeth Warren is next to endorse Joe Biden in Democratic President campaign.
Thursday
Famous Ring Announcer and WWE Hall of Famer Howard Finkel has died at age 69.
Friday
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis permits some of the state’s beaches to reopen soon.
Saturday
Broadway star Nick Cordero will have an amputated right leg due to the coronavirus.

This week is the 2020 NFL Draft LIVE from remote locations as the coronavirus has caused earlier plans for it to be held in Paradise, Nevada to be canceled. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will unveil the first-round picks from his home in Bronxville, New York and team coaches and GMs will be conducting the draft via phone and internet from home due to team facilities also being closed. After a month of no LIVE sports being played, we can still settle to a good old draft but with a different setting and vibe to it. See what went down in the 2020 WNBA Drfat last Friday and a look into the match card for WWE Money in the Bank in an all-new Max Sports Rundown. Pleas note: we will see the second and third draft tomorrow on Facebook and then get final predictions for the NFL Draft probably on Wednesday.

Our Main Story this week concerns the San Diego Comic-Con, the place where you can go and dress up like Superman, and listen to some big news in the TV, Movie, and Comic Book world. But all of that will not be happening this year because the 2020 Comic-Con in California has been officially canceled thanks to everyone's un-favorite virus. It seems beyond possible to hold a large gathering like Comic-Con as even the Mayor of Los Angeles has stated that no sporing events or concerts should be held in the great state of California until 2021 or whenever a vaccine for the coronavirus has been made official. Organizers of the Comic-Con aim to hold the next event in San Diego next year in July of 2021, hopefully a vaccine will be made before then and can get back to a time what we are all familiar with. Check out some of the tough reactions from those looking forward to Con this year and those who expected it would be canceled in a new #TwitterTrend.

San Diego #ComicCon, which was set for July 23-26, has been canceled for the first time in its 50-year history. 135,000 people descended upon the San Diego Convention Center for 2019's convention.

UPDATE: San Diego Comic-Con 2020 has been canceled. The event will return July 22-25, 2021.

#ComicCon had been holding off on its decision in hopes that the situation around COVID-19 would improve by summer.

But with officials indicating that CA's restriction on large gatherings will continue into the summer months, SDCC leaders made the call https://latimes.com/entertainment-arts/tv/story/2020-04-17/san-diego-comic-con-2020-canceled-coronavirus

Those who purchased badges for #SDCC 2020 will receive instructions on how to request a refund or transfer their badges for #ComicCon 2021.

Those who made hotel reservations through its official affiliate, onPeak, will also have their deposits refunded https://t.co/9VnUFuzB9Z?amp=1

San Diego Comic-Con 2020 officially canceled. Badge holders and exhibitors can get refunds or transfer to 2021. I’m sad for everyone in my nerd tribe. This feels like “the snap.” See you someday soon I hope. I miss you all. Details: https://comic-con.org/cci #SDCC #SDCC2020

San Diego Comic-Con is canceled for the first time in 50 years due to #coronavirus... and we all know it's necessary, even if it's a little disappointing.

We can still have some solitary geekout fun sharing our #cosplay pics here on Twitter, right?

Based off what Gavin Newsom said a couple days ago, there's huge doubt SDCC or any other large scale event would even take place in 2021 either unless there's some sort of vaccine or immunization in place. Wild, unprecedented times.

Not a surprise. Emerald City Comic Con was cancelled and I am sure Rose City Comic Con may be on the ropes (it takes place in September) Guys, it's not Marvel/DC movies; it's artists, writers,& makers who get together and sell at these cons. Plus hotels and restaurants!

Morgan Tremaine @MorganTremaine
It had to happen, but my heart still hurts. Haven’t missed SDCC in like 15 years

Tara Bennett @TaraDBennett
I've attended #SDCC 17 years in a row, but calling 2020 for everyone's safety & health is the right thing to do. It's painful for San Diego but #SDCC2021 is going to feel epic once we get this pandemic behind us.

Ash Sevilla @NerdAppropriate
Missing my first #SDCC in about 20 years. It was the right call to cancel. I’ll still probably try to conduct a ton of interviews and have as much fun as possible in its honor —

Jesse Schedeen @jschedeen
I'm glad I finally made the trip to San Diego Comic-Con last year, because at this rate it may be a while before I get another chance. I'm not even holding my breath for SDCC 2021.

Sam Maggs @SamMaggs
SDCC being cancelled is the right call, but it's still so sad. We were going to have a ton of convention exclusives and events for both Unstoppable Wasp and Con Quest... covid has completely destroyed this year for so many different reasons.

Sam Maggs @SamMaggs
I'm grateful for my health and again it's the right call, but I think it's completely okay to feel disappointed and sad and worried about your career and all those other things too.
