This Week's UPDATES

In just a couple of days, I'm going to celebrate my 24th Birthday, and with College a new factor in my life, I don't know how I'm going to celebrate this year. When Kobe Bryant and his daughter, I realized that his number #24 will match how old I'm going to be, and my sister told that I'm soon shifting from the "Micheal Jordan" year at 23 to my "Kobe Bryant" year at 24. This seems like a great honor, and to all the kids who were born in 1996 and are turning 24 this year, do try and treat this number with respect. I've been thinking about what I want for my birthday and where I want to go when that special day arrives, but for now I'll settle for seeing Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey. With that being said, it's time to move on to this week's 7-Day Round-Up, this time with two special videos added on to the list.

The inaugural 2020 XFL Football Season starts with a brand new kickoff formation.

The NFL season may be over, but Football isn't yet by a long shot. Yesterday was Opening Day for the inaugural 2020 XFL Season and it showcased four teams whose helmets, jerseys and footballs all looked stunning. But his wasn't about how they looked, this was about two games being played with the rules of football having been altered such as these. The spot of the kickoff will be set at the kicking team's 30-yard line with members of the kicking team - excluding the kicker - lining up at the receiving team's 35-yard line. Blockers on the receiving team lining up at their 30-yard line and only the kicker and returner(s) can move until the ball is either caught or three seconds after it hits the ground. Another new rule comes with the fact that there is no extra point kick in the XFL, instead it has been replaced with a scrimmage play that varying in point value depending on how far the touchdown-scoring team chooses to take the snap from the goal line. A two-yard attempt would score a single point, a five-yard attempt two points, and a ten-yard attempt three points. Also, in the event that the defense secures a turnover and returns the ball for a touchdown, the defensive team scores the same number of points as the offense was aiming to score. There's another rule called the Double-forward pass in which: Teams will be able to attempt two forward passes on the same play, so long as the ball never crosses the line of scrimmage before the second pass. In overtime, the game will be decided by a five-round shootout of two-point conversions similar to a penalty shootout in soccer or ice hockey. It looks like Commissioner Oliver Luck and company went all in on making this league a success and I get the feeling that this league will live on for years to come, so let's see how things went in our Max Sports rundown for today.

Our Main Story this week concerns the NBA which is hot off its Trade Deadline. Players have found new teams to play with such as Andrew Wiggins going to the Golden State Warriors, D'Angelo Russell going to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Andre Iguodala to the Miami Heat and Andre Drummond to the Cleveland Cavaliers. But we're today to talk about one the ridiculous missed calls in NBA history. During a game last Friday night between the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz, the referees missed what a sports insider called “clear goaltending” by the Jazz during Damian Lillard’s final shot of the game. The decision not to overturn it would allow the Jazz to go on and win 117-114, and sure the Trail Blazers were not happy about it one but. It can been seen as clear as day that the Jazz committed goaltending and there's a lot sports analysis who agree with me and Damien Lillard. Take a look at the missed call and read most of the reaction in a big time edition of #TwitterTrend.

Do you think this block by Gobert on Damian Lillard was a goal tend?

It wasn't just the goaltend...

Three NBA officials made a mistake on Damian Lillard’s goaltend basket on Friday night. But the NBA blew it in a bigger way.

The Command Center with 100-plus monitors and 21 employees on duty was left handcuffed.

Damian Lillard took to Twitter after the refs admitted to missing a crucial goaltending call at the end of the Blazers-Jazz game.

Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn
Hard to miss a call worse than officials did on a Gobert goaltend of a Lillard drive and lay-in in final seconds of a brutal loss. Back-to-back at altitude in Utah, bench depleted — just a hellacious end. Orlando on Thursday, Portland tonight. Sloppy run of NBA officiating.

Stephen A Smith @stephenasmith
That was some BullS$&@$ right there. This @trailblazers vs @utahjazz game, this last play by @Dame_Lillard was a CLEAR GOALTENDING. How the hell are you an official and you miss that call. Lillard was absolutely right to be pissed. Horrible....Horrible miss!

Jamie Hudson @JamieHudsonNBCS
Talked w/ tonight's referees. Here's the question I asked: Was Lillard’s shot reviewable for a goaltend, and if so, why was it not reviewed?

"No, it was not reviewable, since no goaltending call was made on the floor. Goaltending is only reviewable if we actually call it."

Ric Bucher @RicBucher
If the egregious missed goaltend at the end of the Blazers-Jazz game can’t be corrected by the NBA Command Center, then it’s not a Command Center.

The Sports Analyst @TheNBAAnalyst1
We can complain all we want.

Woj and Stephen A Smith can go off on twitter and on talk shows all they want.

The NBA can even admit their wrongdoing afterwards.

But the lack of accountability of refs DURING a game remains a HUGE issue. They single-handedly decide outcomes.
