Today's UPDATES: D23 Edition

(Day 2)

It's Day two of our week long coverage of the 2019 D23 Expo and #KlicKNet has returned to its daily format for one week only. Yesterday, I took to Twitter and live tweeted during a live-stream of the Walt Disney Parks panel, I was very lucky that it was the only way that I could be a part of the Expo as not many of the other panel were live-stream for many certain reasons. Before we dive into D23 info, let's deal with today's Max Sports Rundown which will not be seen on Facebook this week and it feels great that I'm returning to my roots of this blog which has gone on for the past five years and it might go on longer than that.

A shocking turn of events for the NFL and the Indianapolis Colts as last Saturday night Quarterback Andrew Luck announced his retirement from the sport of football. Andrew Luck has suffered several injuries since 2015, he has had to deal with shoulder injuries and earlier on this year, he was hot with a calf and ankle injury. When the Colts where in preseason action against the Chicago Bears, ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the shocking retirement of the 29-year-old quarterback and said that that Luck feels "mentally worn down." After playing in the NFL for about seven seasons, it almost seems that this this talented player is retiring as he once came close in getting the Colts to the Super Bowl in 2015 until the Patriots and Deflate Gate got in their way. In a press conference shortly after the Colts lost to the Bears, Luck revealed that he had planned to tell his teammates before making any announcement.about his retirement, and that hurt even more was when the Indy crowd actually booed him off the field as they were just hearing the news on social media and were completely shocked. For details, check out a sports edition of #TwitterTrend where we have a bunch of reactions from other sports reporters.

One scene that sticks in my mind: Andrew Luck, exiting the locker room after the playoff loss in KC, with a huge smile on his face as he caught up with his fiancee. Asked him about it this spring, and his response is very telling tonight:

What Andrew Luck said to me a few weeks ago now takes on completely different context. Of going through the shoulder injury: "I shudder to think of not having that. I don’t think I’m married if that had not happened. I think I eff that up. I truly do."

Andrew Luck is 29 years old. And ready to move on from the NFL.

Albert Breer @AlbertBreer
Colts QB Andrew Luck wasn't planning to announce his retirement tonight. "I was gonna tell my teammates after the game. And then 3 p.m. tomorrow with you guys."

PFF @PFF
A true rare breed. Andrew Luck’s last two full seasons were ELITE and top-5 graded seasons in the entire NFL.

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
The #Colts have known that QB Andrew Luck was seriously mulling retiring for at least two weeks. He’s married, he plans to travel the world, and once the love for the game waned, it sounds like he wanted to step away. So, he did.

Charles Robinson @CharlesRobinson
Worth mentioning with the insane Andrew Luck retirement news: #Colts sudden starting QB and apparent future at the position, Jacoby Brissett, is scheduled to hit free agency in March.

Zak Keefer @zkeefer
Physical toll on Andrew Luck through 6 NFL seasons:
» Torn cartilage in 2 ribs
» partially torn abdomen
» a lacerated kidney that left him peeing blood
» at least 1 concussion
» a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder
» and this mysterious calf/ankle issue that led to this

Darren Rovell @darrenrovell
With Andrew Luck retiring, @pointsbetusa has moved the odds of the Colts to win the Super Bowl from 12/1 to 50/1.

Darren Rovell @darrenrovell
In retiring, I have Andrew Luck giving up $58.1 million in future money.

This Andrew Luck news is shocking. Most shocking retirement since Barry Sanders.

Finally for today, a look into the Disney Plus Panel at D23 Expo last Friday which showcased what lies ahead for the debut of the new Disney streaming service. It is sure to blow a lot of people away when it is launched on November 12th and feature almost every series and film made by Disney, Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm. It was announced that a new sequel series to the classic Disney Channel show Lizzie McGuire is coming to Disney Plus, with the original creator returning as well as Hilary Duff who will reprise her role as Lizzie McGuire. There will also be a Phineas and Ferb spin-off movie, a Toy Story spin-off "Forky Asks a Question", a new unscripted, Celebrity-filled Muppets short-form series called "Muppets Now", and there were special looks into series like The World According to Jeff Goldblum, Encore! with Kirsten Bell. In addition to that, there were new trailers of the Disney Plus original movies Lady and the Tramp and Noelle, and how can we forget about Star Wars' The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian. New series based on other Star Wars characters Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi are currently in production, and Marvel brought exclusive new looks into The Falcon and the Winter Solider, WandaVision and announced three new series coming to Disney Plus, they are: Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk. I am ultimately excited about the She-Hulk as it seems like the right time that she be a part of the MCU for one Hulk just isn't enough. To get more details on these announcements, watch out for today's Web Choice playlist shows what happened from last Friday's panel at the D23 Expo.
