This Week's UPDATES

Happy Cinco de Mayo, and although I am not Mexican, the thing I like the most about this Holiday is all the fresh and delicious food. We've finally made it to May and it's gonna be a big month for everybody especially Mexicans. Life has been getting a little better for me in 2019, I've survived two months in college despite some aches and pains, though things are gonna a little rough this summer as I will have two classes to attend as college is a whole new setup for me as I am accustom to having a summer vacation. I could sit here and tell you about what else I've been up, but I don't want to waste the opportunity of telling the viewers what unreal week it was in the news cycle, and it capped off with a shocking conclusion leading to this week's 7-Day Postcast.

Our Main Story this week is on another major update on the 2020 Presidential Election which has seen more than twenty Democratic announce their intentions of running against Donald Trump. According to several news outlets, there are 21 official candidates on the Democratic Party side, where as Wikipedia has 22, the person that these outlets have left out apparently is the U.S. Senator from Alaska Mike Gravel, he is oldest candidate in this Election but it would seem that he has not yet qualified to be in the first of multiple Democratic Debates starting late June next month. 22 or 21 candidates seems way too much for any political junkie to handle, and the number is about to get a lot bigger in the next couple, because now word has been received that Steve Bullock, Governor of Montana is likely to announce his candidacy for President between the week of May 13-19, but in this week, current Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio will make his own announcement, and maybe on his Birthday no less. If you need info, take a look at this new political #TwitterTrend that I have cooked for today.
New York Daily News @NYDailyNews
EXCLUSIVE | De Blasio expected to announce 2020 presidential run next week: sources

The announcement could come as early as de Blasio’s birthday on Wednesday, when he’ll turn 58, one source said.

Nate Silver @NateSilver538
On average in polls this year (excluding polls of New York state), de Blasio has a 22% favorable rating and a 21% unfavorable rating *among Democrats*.

That's quite bad. The average Democrat has about a 3:1 ratio of favorables to unfavorables among D voters.

Mayor Bill de Blasio is expected to announce he's running for president next week, the

New York Magazine @NYMag
New Yorkers think it's a terrible idea for Bill de Blasio to run for president. A host of political experts and advisers have told him it's a bad idea, too. But he's reportedly running anyway.

Harry Cherry ✡️ @TheHarryCherry
76% of voters in New York City say that de Blasio should not run for President.

47% of voters say that he would be bad for New York City if he ran.

44% of voters disapprove of his job performance as Mayor. poll.qu.edu/new-york-city/…

Dylan Matthews @dylanmatt
I know a lot of New Yorkers hate him because, IDK, he exercises at the wrong gym or something, but universal pre-K is a legit very impressive achievement that few in the race can match.

Eliza Shapiro @elizashapiro
De Blasio's 2020 bid would likely be based around universal pre-K. I've covered that program extensively since 2013 and it was indeed a success, though w/ some outstanding issues re: teacher salaries. But the Q for anyone paying attention has been: what else actually worked?

Nate Silver @NateSilver538
Pretty sure I could talk myself into thinking that Bill de Blasio is the 14th- or 15th-most likely person to win the Democratic nomination.

Nate Silver @NateSilver538
Like Hickenlooper, he's a guy where if you were just looking at the resume without the name, you'd think it was semi impressive:

—2-term mayor of the largest US city (re-elected by 39 points)
—fairly popular with blacks & Hispanics

—outspoken progressive in a party moving left

Nate Silver @NateSilver538
Like most resumes, that leaves out the many, many, many negatives. Which is why he's 14th or 15th and not 4th or 5th.  But he's above, like, the Swalwell-Moulton line.

Larry Sabato @LarrySabato
So Mayor Bill De Blasio will be number 23. Also expected soon, number 24 Gov. Steve Bullock of Montana. Number 25 could be Stacey Abrams of GA. Any rumors of others? And to think some of you thought I was joking about a Baskin-Robbins 31.

(((Yair Rosenberg))) @Yair_Rosenberg
It's going to be amazing when the 2020 Democratic primary debates just devolve into Cuomo and de Blasio shouting at each other over the New York City subway

Matt Goldich @MattGoldich
The only solution to the number of Democratic candidates running is to hold the debates simultaneously on multiple stages like at a music festival. I’m probably not voting for Ryan, Williamson, de Blasio or Moulton but I’d check them out on the Axe Body Spray #Next2020 side stage
