This Week's UPDATES

I have some important news to share wit h the #KlicKNet Weekly viewers, Next Sunday I will be off to do oral surgery on the right hand side of my mouth. I have been dreading this for a long time, and I do not tell anyone this until now, but one of my upper right teeth is missing and then  I have two other cavities in two lower teeth on the right. So they are going to remove these bad teeth and hopefully replace then with something good; I've had only a few injuries in my life before, but this will make unable to talk about next week's updates. I could also miss out on WrestleMania 35 next Sunday and then going to College the very next day, hopefully I can get through all of this without any problems and when it's done, my mouth will be back at a 100%, we have a big month ahead of us in April, and I would like to make it a memorable one. So now we are moving on to this week's 7-Day Postcast as it has some more serious news than the one I just shared, but there a few stories that are also fun, however, you won't know until you have seen them for yourself.

Our Main Story this week concerns "Diversity," a word in the dictionary that means a variety or range of different things. Diversity is a frequent keyword that pops up in the Entertainment Business, and in these terms it means how a TV Show or Movie where the cast is not all white or black, but a variety of actors from different background, cultures, race, and color. We have seen such controversy when it comes to Diversity, whether it involves the Oscars, the Emmys and other places in the media that have been dominated by whites since the dawn of the Industry. Last Thursday, we got a new taste controversy and disappointment when it was revealed that current Daily Show Correspondent Ronny Chieng and Actress Susan Wokoma have been cast in a pilot for a new CBS comedy series called "Super Simple Love Story" which could be picked up for the 2019-2020 TV Season. The thing that has fans of these actors upset is the fact they are not going to be in the lead roles of the show, instead that honor goes to Elizabeth Alderfer and David Walton, two people who I am guessing are white. While some people are excited to see Ronny Chieng and Susan Wokoma get cast on a show on one of TV's Highest Rated Networks, some are reflecting on diversity casting trends and calling for change, all of this you can find in a special #TwitterTrend that speaks the volume of this story.

‘Super Simple Love Story’: Ronny Chieng & Susan Wokoma Cast In CBS Comedy Pilot

My emotional journey of reading this announcement and the reveal:

Nancy Wang Yuen @nancywyuen
Too bad they are not the couple, but the ethnic friends of the main white leads.
Nancy Wang Yuen @nancywyuen
I am not saying don’t support the actors. But in drawing attention to this age-old trope, I hope the show can give major plotlines to Ronny Chieng & Susan Wokoma so we can see their characters’ stories fleshed out. In other words, make it an ensemble show.

Jun Naito @thisjunnaito
The headline is misleading for sure, but I give Ronny and Susan much respect for the incredible professional achievement it is to get cast as series regulars on a network show!

Christina Ong @ong_going
Ugh and i love Susan Wokoma too!!

Nancy Wang Yuen @nancywyuen
Still going to watch and support them, but Hollywood needs to know that audiences are tired of the marginalization of PoC.

Dr. Letitia Wright @Drwright1
I got excited until you explained. Nope. Won’t be watching that tired formula

Nancy Wang Yuen @nancywyuen
Yeah, I still want to support the two actors but unless the show really fleshes them out & makes them co-leads, I don’t know if it’ll keep me coming back.

Louise Colbert @LouiseColbert
Quoting Jordan Peele; "I've already seen that movie."

ᴊᴇɴ ᴋᴡᴏᴋ @jenkwok
My eyes and heart immediately saw a cute couple, but then my head reminded me that Hollywood ain’t that woke yet. Hopefully someday soon....

CiceroTheCat @TheCiceroCat
I get why people are disappointed by this, but "Abby" is going to have a crush on "cute Rabbi Sarah" so I'm happy about that. Also the lead couple to this were already cast weeks ago (when it was still going by "The Us Project"). The headline was typical Deadline, not baiting.
