Today's Updates? 2/21/2019

Today's UPDATES?

Well this is a surprising, last night I thought I was going out today and now it looks like I get the day-off instead. Let it be known that this is going to be the last Thursday post that I'll be doing before #KlicKNet begins it new run on Sundays only, and if you are looking for "The Best Sunday Paper in Town," well on March 3rd, you've come to the right place my friends.  Our Max Sports rundown today concerns NXT, one of the hottest wrestling brands in the WWE, after Ricochet, Aleister Black, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa made their RAW and SmackDown debuts this week, they all returned to NXT last night. Aleister Black defeated Undisputed Era member Roderick Strong and was saved from a Undisputed beat down by the One and Only Ricochet. They also announced last night the return of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament where eight tag team will compete to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic trophy and earn a NXT Tag Team Championship match at the next NXT TakeOver in New York City during WrestleMania weekend. Now the first four tag teams for this tournament were announced last night as The Street Profits' Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel, The Forgotten Sons' Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler, and The Undisputed Era's Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish. But the biggest highlight of the night had to be the NXT North American Championship between Johnny Gargano and the Velveteen Dream, these two have been at it for a very long time as Velveteen Dream had once called Gargano "Johnny Failure", but Gargano has reshaped himself with a new attitude as "Johnny Champion" after not having a great year in 2018. While some would suspect that 2019 is the year that "Johnny Wrestling" will run wild once more, but believe it or not, Johnny hit another roadblock last night when the Velveteen Dream took him to the limit, found a way to outsmart him at every turn of the match, and won shocked the whole NXT Universe by winning the NXT North American Championship. Listening to this let's you know that WrestleMania season is definitely in full swing as the Velveteen Celebration is on at Full Sail in Florida, quick note before we move on, the NBA returns to action tonight and the second half of the season is going to be one for the ages.

Last Saturday was marked as the one-year anniversary of Marvel Studios' Black Panther. I remember watching that film like it was yesterday, my sister saw it on Thursday, February 15th, the day before its official US release, we to the theater at Regal Union Square Stadium 14 in Manhattan. It was drizzling rain outside, but that did not stop us from seeing the cultural phenomenon that everyone has been talking about since last year, and what I loved most about the film was the original music by Kendrick Lamar and his hit song "All the Stars" with SZA was my favorite song for the entirely of 2018. This year, fans of the Oscar-nominated Marvel film are celebrating the one-year anniversary of its US release, as well as well the main star of the movie, Chadwick Boseman. To see what people have said, take a look a today's #TwitterTrend as each tweets has such much meaning when it comes to one of the most successful Marvel Studios films of ALL-TIME.

Happy Anniversary, #BlackPanther! One year, countless #WakandaForever hashtags, and one billion dollars later and it’s safe to say #TChalla and crew not only changed super hero films, but the culture. (๐Ÿ“ท: ESSENCE March 2018, photographer Dennis Leupold )

Can’t forget this one, too. From the Oscar Best Picture nominated film #BlackPanther, which turns one year old today.

One year ago today, Black Panther was released in theaters. It'd go on to gross over 1.3 billion dollars worldwide and be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.

Wakanda forever.

Since we're talking about Marvel, let's keep it going with what's happening over at Disneyland Resort as the Marvel-themed land at Disney California Adventure seems to be having a very slow progress. While the rest of resort is gearing up for new additions this year, I am still waiting on the next official major update on what this Marvel Experience at DCA is going to be like, the likeliest will probably be after Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Park and maybe announced at the 2019 D23 Expo in Anaheim in August. Until that time comes, here's a fun-filled Web Choice playlist on Disney Parks goers and experts weighing in on what is going on as things seemed to be looking up for the resort.
