Today's UPDATES

Apparently there's a NEVER SAY DIE attitude in the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints that cannot be extinguished. So many teams have tired in the regular season and while a few of them succeed, it became a whole different story when it comes to the NFL Playoffs, and today in our Max Sports rundown, we're going to keep it very plain and short with how these two teams won yesterday. By plain and short, I mean that there is not much to talk about between the Patriots and the Los Angeles Chargers, every non-Patriots fans like myself were rooting for Phillip Rivers and his team all the way, and while they did a touchdown in their opening drive of the game, the Patriots outsmarted Rivers' squad in every way imaginable. Out of three of their five touchdown, the Patriots' Sony Michel was the one to run them into the zone for his team, Rex Burkhead scored a running touchdown of his own for his team, and Phillip Dorsett caught a 15 yard pass from Tom Brady. The Chargers had three more touchdown which came late in the second half, and they were 1-for-2 when scoring a two-point conversion, but with two field goals made by Stephen Gostkowski, the Patriots clinched their 8th straight rip to the the AFC Championship with a 41-28 victory. Then the Saints would hit the field at the Superdome against the now former defending Super Bowl Champions Philadelphia Eagles who only scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, and when every thought that this would be their game to win, the Saints turned the tables on them. It all started with a leaping interception of a Nick Foles pass on the Saints 21-yard line by Marshon Lattimore in the second quarter, then New Orleans drove to a 4th and 1 on their own 30-yard line and sent their punt unit on to the field and backup quarterback Taysom Hill took a direct snap and ran 4 yards for a first down, enabling the drive to continue. Drew Brees three a two yard TD pass to Keith Kirkwood, and with a 45 yard field goal made by Wil Lutz, the score at Halftime was 14-10 Eagles. It started to become a game of great defense which is impossible to do against the Saints who did not let the Eagles score for the rest of the game, Brees threw another two-yard TD pass, this time to Micheal Thomas, and Wil Lutz hit a 39 yard FG in the fourth quarter for the Saints as they led 20-14. With just 3:03 left on the clock, the Saints had a chance to put the game away, but Lutz missed a 52-yard field goal attempt, giving the ball to Philadelphia on their 42-yard line. After driving to the Saints 27 yard line, the Eagles chose not to wait until after the two-minute warning to make up a game plan to score and that would turn out to be their immediate downfall. Foles threw a pass that went through the hands of Alshon Jeffery and was intercepted by Lattimore with 1:50 remaining, enabling New Orleans to run out the clock and win 20-14. So both the Conference Championship games next Sunday will be contested between the #1 and #2 seeds of the AFC and NFC, first it will be the Saints against the LA Rams, followed by the Pats against the KC Chiefs; fun fact, when the Rams and Chiefs were undefeated way back in the regular season, it was yesterday's Divisional Round winners who handed them their first lost, but if the Rams and Chiefs want to have a rematch of their Week 11 shootout in the Super Bowl, they cannot take their respective opponents next week so lightly, it's gonna b a long trip to next Sunday and everything will be on the line as soon as kickoff begins.

Today, the New York Jets will hold a press conference at 2PM to welcome their new Head Coach, formerly from the Miami Dolphins, Adam Gase. Yesterday we spoke about the brief  history on Gase, but we know little as to why the Jest hired him other than the fact that he is an offensive minded coach. Jets Quarterback Sam Darnold is very convinced that this new team hired the right man in Adam Gase, the Jets reached out to him soon after he was fired by the Miami Dolphins on December 31, he was only 23-25 in his first three seasons as a head coach, but he dominated the Jets by winning five of six meetings. Jets CEO Christopher Johnson took a phone call on last week from an especially impressive reference who advocated for Gase: Peyton Manning. Gang Green wanted a coach with a background in developing quarterbacks and Mr. Gase has worked with many, most notably with Manning, who set passing records as the Denver Broncos' quarterback in 2013 with Gase as the offensive coordinator, so it will be to him to make Sam Darnold into the potential franchise player that they need in order to rebuild themselves as a legit team in the NFL. Darnold spoke to ESPN last Thursday and said this in a phone interview: "It was a tough decision, but I think Gase and the things he's able to do, the way he's able to lead, I think is the best thing for our team," he was impressed with former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Todd Monken and predicted that he will be a successful head coach some day, but Darnold said he really clicked with Gase. Dowell Loggains, who worked with Gase in Miami, is said to be expected to become the the Jets' new offensive coordinator, but he is currently being interview by the Dolphins for their vacant head coaching job, and former Cleveland Browns interim head coach Gregg Williams is under consideration for the defensive coordinator position, if all goes the Jets' way, then they'll have the perfect coaching staff to contend with next season. Today's #TwitterTrend presents the reaction of a couple of people who spoke about the hiring of Adam Gase last week and here's what they all had to day.

The New York Jets have selected former Dolphins coach Adam Gase to be their next head coach, per multiple reports

Jets expected to hire HC Adam Gase, per me and @JeffDarlington.

Breaking: The New York Jets have selected former Dolphins coach Adam Gase to be their next head coach, per sources close to the situation. The deal will be finished late tonight or early Thursday morning depending on logistics.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Adam Gase becomes the Jets’ first head coach since Bill Parcells (1997) with previous NFL head-coaching experience.

Ralph Vacchiano @RVacchianoSNY
The search is over: The Jets are hiring former Dolphins coach Adam Gase, according to a league source.

Ralph Vacchiano @RVacchianoSNY
Three years ago, Adam Gase was the hottest candidate on the coaching market and the young offensive genius everyone seemed to want. He went 23-25 in his three seasons with the Miami Dolphins.

Solomon Syed @SolomonSyed
Woooooooooooow. So no one ever plans to challenge the #Patriots while BB and Brady are still around.

People internally were conveyed the belief that it had come down to Adam Gase & Todd Monken as of a few hours ago. At least that's what they were told, per a source. So there you go. Gase was also indicating to people what assets he'd like to bring to the #NYJ.

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
The #Jets wanted to someone to come in and work with QB Sam Darnold, and Adam Gase’s prowess with the QB is well-known. Ryan Tannehill wasn’t often healthy but when he was, they went to the playoffs.

Jeff Darlington @JeffDarlington
It was an exhaustive process that included countless discussions, but I’m told Jets CEO Christopher Johnson took a phone call on Tuesday night from an especially impressive reference who advocated for Adam Gase:

Peyton Manning.

ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo
Adam Gase went 5-1 against the Jets in his 3 seasons with the Dolphins. He was 5-7 against the rest of the AFC East.

Craig Hoffman @CraigHoffman
I thought Gase was the best coach let go this cycle. He stayed near .500 in Miami while navigating a QB carousel that topped out at Ryan Tannehill.

For our Web Choice playlist, let's not only take another trip to Disneyland Resort to see the construction and upgrades that are going on their, but let's also travel to Walt Disney World which is also in the midst of its own renovation this year.
