Today's UPDATES

It's been of weekend of uncertainty so far, especially with the games going on right now in the MLB. The one series that is the most interesting this time around is also the subject of today's Max Sports rundown, I'm talking about the New York Yankees v Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The Yankees have been trying very hard to catch up in the Division standings with the Red Sox, but to no avail, they have lost three straight games to Boston, despite the number of new players that the Yankees acquired during the Trade Deadline. The Red Sox' record in the American League East division is 78-34, while the Yankees' record is 68-41, they are 8.5 games behind the Red Sox right now, but the good news is that the Yankees have the first AL Wild Card spot in their possession. They are 3.5 games ahead of the Oakland Athletics who have a record of 66-46 and are 2.5 games ahead of their AL West rivals the Seattle Mariners, so with a couple of more weeks in the 2018 MLB season, it's going to be real interesting as to who can catch up and who can maintain their lead in the standings in order to make a run in October postseason. If anyone wants to see the results from last Friday and yesterday, they are right now below followed by more updates on the NBA Free Agency period.

How many people watch Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on HBO? Probably everyone in the country watches Last Week Tonight for its funny content and satire on certain news topics in the world, the host John Oliver has done some really goofy things on his show since it was premiered in 2014, but I think a few weeks is when his words really set over line. The following #TwitterTrend is all because of a segment that Oliver did on June 17th about China and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping, he said that the Chinese President strikes a supposed resemblance to Winnie the Pooh who just happens to be in the new Disney film "Christopher Robin." After those comments from John Oliver were made, the Chinese government recently banned images of Winnie the Pooh due to the embarrassment of the resemblance which was into a meme by activists. So therefore, Disney's Christopher Robin has been barred from being release in China and a source has pinned the blame to the crackdown on these images in the past couple of weeks, as a matter of fact, Chinese authorities blocked HBO after Last Week Tonight host John Oliver mocked Xi's sensitivity over being compared to Winnie the Pooh. Whether or not this situation started because of the comments made by Oliver is unsure, but we can get a better perspective with the following tweets down below.

Exclusive: #ChristopherRobin won't get a China release due to a crackdown on images of Winnie the Pooh

"Christopher Robin" Banned in China, Possibly Due to Memes Comparing Leader Xi Jinping to Pooh Bear

Winnie the Pooh looks like Xi Jinping ? https://twitter.com/ThePlaylist/status/1025408990123941888?s=19
Dan @dandaman4us
Maybe ?

Ross Marchand @RossAMarchand
"Bloggers have drawn comparisons between the pudgy bear and Xi, which has put the country's censors in overdrive."

Vijai Mahesh @vijaimaheshwari
Didn't realise until watching #JohnOliver that the great Chinese President Xi Jinping, leader for life, is embarrassed by his supposed resemblance to Winnie the Pooh. All references to that have been banned on the Chinese internet #winniethepoohxi #xiwinniethepooh

Here's our story from last night about China and Xi Jinping...

THR International @THRGlobal
The comedian's show 'Last Week Tonight' appears to have struck a nerve with a segment critiquing China's human rights record and Beijing's weird censorship of Winnie-the-Pooh

Ryan W. Mead @rwmead
Apparently the terms "Winnie the Pooh" and "Disney" are banned on Chinese social media as a result of the Pooh comparison memes, which has led some Chinese citizens who just love Pooh as a character to complain about the fact: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/17/world/asia/china-winnie-the-pooh-censored.html

MovieMania @MovieManiaGuru
Pretty ridiculous reason to ban the movie. It wouldn't stop the memes and China has a Disney park in Shanghai

Kieran Green 葛季然 @Kgreen42
It’s actual kinda wild to explain this to my friends who aren’t as familiar with China—

“Kieran can you explain to me why the CCP fears Winnie the Pooh?”

“Well, back in 2015 people began to note that he bears a striking resemblance to Xi Jinping...

Kieran Green 葛季然 @Kgreen42
... and the CCP did not take kindly to this observation.”

“Wait so... they banned the Winnie the Pooh movie... over a f***ing meme”

“Yeah, pretty much.”

christy kinskey @christyandk
Xi should embrace it. Teddy Roosevelt was compared to a bear. Now they’re all “Teddy bears”

Ryan W. Mead @rwmead
“Christopher Robin” will not be released in China due to Winnie the Pooh being a political resistance meme in the country, with Chinese Internet users mocking leader Xi Jinping and his facial resemblance to the cartoon bear: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/christopher-robin-refused-china-release-1131907

Aaron Cruze @theaaroncruze
lololololol imagine a country banning your movie because its citizens openly mock you w images of its lead character "source pins... blame on the country’s crusade against images of the Winnie the Pooh character which has become a symbol of the resistance"

Moving on to a much more lighter story involving Disney, this is a #JustSoYouKnow moment. Walt Disney Pictures are hard at work at a new film based on a beloved Disney Parks attraction of the same name, Jungle Cruise. The movie stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt and the premise goes like this: "Frank, a boat captain, takes his sister and her brother on a mission into a jungle to find a tree believed to possess healing powers. All the while, the trio must fight against dangerous wild animals and a competing German expedition." It's extremely wear for a movie to be based on a theme park attraction, but only Disney can pull it off nicely, and October 11, 2019, movie goers can see for themselves what makes Jungle Cruise a popular ride through the power of movie magic. Production on the film  commenced on May 14, 2018 in Hawaii. but Dwayne Johnson stated that filming began properly the following week after, and just a few days ago, Johnson and Emily Blunt send a message to Disney fans about how the film is going, take a look.
