Today's UPDATES

With the start of 2018 NFL Season just weeks away, teams are getting into pre-season action as we speak. In this edition of our Max Sports Rundown, it's all about week one of 2018 NFL Preseason, teams want to make a good impression this upcoming regular season because once these past four weeks of preseason are up, all bets are off. It all started with the NFL Hall of Fame Game between the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens who honored their great linebackers and now new Hall of Famers Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis. This game seemed to be all about defense in the early going and is what both teams would used to honor the newest inductees into Hall of Fame, but in the end, it was the Ravens who came out on top with a 17-16 victory over the Bears. A week after that, more NFL teams came out for preseason action this current weekend, but two games that I am most interested in are the ones played by both New York football teams, Giants and Jets. The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants battled last Thursday in a game that the Browns won 20-10, but what I am really concern about is Baker Mayfield and Saquon Barkley who really showed the goods. Both players would lived up to the early expectations as the top two picks in the NFL draft were in their first action, Mayfield showed what great offense he has and Barkley was able to lit a mighty strong spark for his team. Moving on to the New York Jets, they gave the Atlanta Falcons a shutout loss which resulted in a win for Gang Green, Teddy Bridgewater scored his first touchdown for the team as well as the third top pick in the Draft, Sam Darnold. I know it just preseason, but after watching Darnold throw that touchdown the way he did, I wonder if the Jets will consider making him their starting quarterback for opening week of the regular season, only time will tell, meanwhile see what went down this weekend in the MLB.

There's been a lot of speculation going around social media that Idris Elba will become the first black actor to play Agent 007 James Bond, replacing Daniel Craig. I wasn't so sure about this the moment the news, but now that I think of, it sounds awesome, awesome enough to be the subject of today's #TiwtterTrend, and here another twist in this developing story. It was reported by Esquire that James Bound producers were leaning towards the English actor from Hackney, London to be 007, in fact this have been speculated for many many years, but I think we could be one step closer to that rumor being a reality. Just this morning, Idris Elba posted a cryptic message on Twitter that fuels the speculation that he'll be the next James Bond even further. If Elba does get chosen, you can bet I'll be in a seat in theaters watching the first black James Bound in action, as for the tweet that he sent out, we have plenty of other tweeters who are reacting to the speculations.

It's only time before the deal the Walt Disney Company and 21st Century Fox becomes and we are all wondering as to how this will affect the entertainment industry in the future. One major impact out of all this is fact the Disney-Fox deal will help Marvel Studios acquire the rights to many Marvel characters owned by Fox so that means we can see the X-Men and Fantastic Four joining the Avengers in a massive blockbuster. On a different note of this deal, you wonder if it will Disney gain the full Marvel theme park rights from Universal Studios and build more Marvel attractions at Walt Disney World in Florida, and nothing would please us Marvel Fans more than that. Moving to a story that has all Marvel and Disney fans is the firing of James Gunn for making previous racial comments, according to sources at Deadline.com, Marvel is trying to persuade Disney to explore a compromise that might bring Gunn back into the fold for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, something that clearly would be best for the franchise. I agree to that statement because it's hard to imagine Guardians 3 ever being good without the help of the great James Gunn. For more stuff about Disney, here's a Web Choice playlist of videos made by Orange Grove 55 who has weighed in on each story as well as many others.
