Today's UPDATES

The first day of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 was a complete thriller yesterday as the first two games were decided by one goal advantage from the winners. So now, Max Sports can confirm that France and Uruguay have advanced to the Quarterfinals and will soon face each other on Friday in Nizhny Novgorod. France went to town with Argentina in the early part of their game and not only scored four goals over them, but held Argentina to just three goals, after that, Uruguay and Portugal were in a heated battle were they both tied at one goal at piece heading towards the end of their. But, Uruguay got the better of Portugal when Edinson Cavani shot deciding goal for his team and Uruguay won 2-1. Today we'll if host country Russia can make it to the Quarterfinals when they take on Spain in Moscow, keep in mind, the game is set to start at 10AM and I wrote this post while it was in progress so I won't have the results of the game until tomorrow, but we can take a closer look now at the matchup between Spain and Russia. These two teams head to Moscow for the perfect match of the entire World Cup, Spain won the World Cup back on 2010 and will have to get through one of the favorites in this year's tournament, Russia who knows what they are getting themselves into today. The other knockout matchup for today is Croatia vs Denmark in Nizhny Novgorod, they both have a history together in soccer, most notably is when they faced in each other in a 1998 FIFA World Cup qualification game, and very soon they will determine just who deserves to move to the Quarterfinals. There's a lot more sports results this current weekend including MLB, see for yourself on they have shaped up.

Last Friday, LeBron James opted out if his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, as we all expected, and with NBA Free Agency starting today, he is now once again an unrestricted free agent. It has not taken NBA fans and experts too long to play quite the guessing game on which possible teams are on the horizon to sign LeBron James. I only hope that he chooses to stay in the Eastern Conference because if he goes to the West, no East team will even have a chance against any West teams in the NBA Finals. The top Eastern Conference team to take LeBron James right now is the Philadelphia 76ers who could really use him to complete "The Process" and maybe make a bigger run in the NBA Playoffs. Am I pulling for the Sixers to acquire LeBron you might ask, probably, though I could well imagine him going to a team like Houston Rockets, but the LA Lakers and San Antonio Spurs do not seem like the perfect fit for LeBron in my estimation. This is going to be a really hot trend all summer long, hot enough to be our #TwitterTrend for today, check out what NBA fans and experts have spoken about this subject.

Knicks about to pull out the ultimate LeBron pitch and just sell him the team lol

Bobby Marks @BobbyMarks42
Not surprised by the LeBron decision. The impact is that a sign and trade (see Houston) would likely be off the table because of the hard cap and the pool of teams now shrink to a possible 3.....Cleveland, LA Lakers and Philadelphia.

Candace Parker @Candace_Parker
I know everyone is anxiously awaiting where Lebron is going to go.... but I know I am not alone in feeling that I hope at some point in my life, I can sleep at night... opting OUT of 35 MILLION DOLLARS..... like geeez #BillyGoat

I'm convinced Lebron will be in the purple and gold next year. No sources. Just gut!

Boarding a flight to FL. Fully expect LeBron James to be a Laker by the time I get back to LA. Boston can’t afford a Kawhi trade, meaning he’s headed to LA or staying put. Dwyane Wade is in Ibiza with Paul George telling him to team up with LeBron. King of Angels has a nice ring.

David Aldridge @daldridgetnt
Kings had been working on the expectation that Temple would opt in for next year. With so many teams capped out already for next season and approaching the luxury tax threshold, the market for free agents underneath the LeBron/Paul George level will be tight.

Brian Westbrook @36westbrook
The Warriors will have better perimeter players than every team in the NBA, so that shouldn’t be the determining factor for Lebron! Embiid’s presence has to play a part in the sales pitch and thought process!

James Benge @jamesbenge
A quick primer on Decision 3.0 - no hard feelings for LeBron if he goes but he'll need at least one of Kawhi/PG to really compete against the Warriors https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/decision-30-lebron-james-to-become-a-free-agent-as-nba-giants-queue-up-for-superstar-a3875861.html

Love that a player is in charge of the NBA chess board. It is a business. The game is fine even after modest power shift to players. Cleveland Cavaliers have to hope LeBron James' decision is less about basketball this time http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2018/06/cleveland_cavaliers_have_to_ho.html#SportsBiz @GlobalSportMtrs
