Today's UPDATES

Since the NBA Finals are not until another day, let's try and talk about a different sports topic for our Max Sports rundown today, and there's only one topic that hasn't gotten a lot attention on this blog. That would be the Stanley Cup Playoffs, we've made a few mentions about but have never spoken about it in-depth, so today we are going to discuss the match up in the Stanley Cup Finals between the Washington Captials and Vegas Golden Knights. First up is the Eastern Conference Champions Washington Captials who have been trying to get to the Finals for many years since they last went there in 1998 and failed to win the Championship. They finished the 2017-18 regular season with 105 points and a record of 49–26–7, and also became Champions of the Metropolitan division, Capitals team captain Alexander Ovechkin was the winner of this season's Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy, leading the league with 49 regular-season goals. The Capitals' playoff run started in the first round beat the Blue Jackets in six games, then in the Conference Semifinals, they won a 4–2 series against the Penguins, whom they had lost to during the past two playoffs. Washington then defeated the Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals in seven games which the Captials won the first two games and then Games 6 and 7. The Western Conference Champions Vegas Golden Knights to a different path to the finals on a count of it's their first playoff run in franchise history they became the first expansion team since the 1967–68 St. Louis Blues to make the Finals in their inaugural season. Some thought they were going to do terrible in regular season and would not make the playoffs at all, but they proved everyone wrong and ended up finishing the regular season with 109 points, a winning record of 51–24–7 and added the Pacific Division Championship to their long list of accomplishments. Vegas swept the LA Kings four games straight in the first round, defeated the Sharks in six games of the Conference Semis, and eliminated the Winnipeg Jets in five games of the Western Conference Finals. Both team in the Stanley Cup Finals are making history and whomever comes out on top will achieve the ultimate history by winning their first Stanley Cup title in franchise history, so there's massive rundown for you, now here's another look at the matchup between the two teams.

Did you ever had one of those days when you said something so offending that you'll regret for the rest of your life, well I can tell you one person is already regretting that decision, Roseanne Barr. Yesterday, the star of the revived ABC classic "Roseanne" said something yesterday on twitter that was so racist, that I will not explain it in any way what so ever as It think that it is completely ridiculous and should not be repeated ever again. The tweet so bad that Channing Dungey, President of ABC Entertainment and Disney CEO Bob Iger came to the conclusion that ABC's highest rated show of the TV season this year will be canceled after being brought back for a new season and being renewed for another one. This has gotten the entire social media community on edge and tweets and comments have been flying in like crazy, not too long ago at its Upfront presentation, ABC announced that "Roseanne" would air Tuesday at 8PM this Fall, but those plans are out the door, and according to deadline.com, the news of "Roseanne's" cancellation has shaken up the entire ABC Fall Schedule. Network executives had reportedly spent all of yesterday in meetings trying to figure out what to do with its Tuesday fall lineup without the 8PM Hour being anchored by "Roseanne", some say that one of the new ABC comedy pilots that came close to a series order for the Fall may get a second chance and go into that vacant spot. Some say that The Goldberg Spinoff "Schooled" which is currently set of midseason could be involved in the final decision, or maybe ABC will shave of a hour of comedy in favor of a new hour long drama, either the network has a tough decision to make it's going to be real interesting how they'll handle it. But for now, let's move back to those racial comments by Roseanne Barr, various stars and media personalities took to social media to share their thoughts and you can find a few of them in today's #TwitterTrend, and this group of tweets may leave speechless or help you understand how important this issue really is.
Ava DuVernay @ava
For the record, this is Channing Dungey. Sitting on top of your world like a Queen in full judgement of your garbage and taking it out. #Roseanne

Robert Iger @RobertIger
From Channing Dungey, President of ABC Entertainment: "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show."
There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.

Joe Scarborough @JoeNBC
Hey @ABC, Roseanne Barr compared Valerie Jarrett to an ape. There is no apology she can make that justifies @ABC turning a blind eye to this bigotry by airing another second of her show.
Even in the Age of Trump, there are red lines that can never be crossed. This is one.

Kevin Conroy @RealKevinConroy
Roseanne has made her fortune off the backs of the working class with mean spirited vulgarity. Thank God they cancelled her trash. Feel bad for all the other actors and crew who lost their jobs too.

Viola Davis @violadavis
Bellamy Young @BellamyYoung
Thank you, Channing. Thank you @ABCNetwork.

Minnie Driver @driverminnie
So proud of @ABCNetwork for having the ethical compunction to cancel #Rosanne despite the show’s huge numbers. We too make a show about a middle class family , come and watch us instead #speechless @Speechless_ABC

shonda rhimes @shondarhimes
The terrible part is all of the talented innocent people who worked on that show now suffer because of this.  #notjustice

shonda rhimes @shondarhimes
But honestly she got what she deserved.  As I tell my 4 year old, one makes a choice with one’s actions.  Roseanne made a choice. A racist one.  ABC made a choice.  A human one.

Emma Kenney @EmmaRoseKenney
I am hurt, embarrassed, and disappointed. The racist and distasteful comments from Roseanne are inexcusable.

Jim O'Heir @JimOHeir
I’m rarely SHOCKED by anything these days.  But @ABCNetwork canceling @RoseanneOnABC got me.  They looked past money and did what was right.  Good for them.

Rita Moreno @TheRitaMoreno
@therealroseanne, you break my heart -- You are a sorry excuse for a human being. How odd that you, as a comedienne, have forgotten then meaning of a "joke" and a personal comment. Your meanness is staggering and will earn you a ticket to a sad, lonely and sorry life.

Aisha Tyler @aishatyler
. @THEsaragilbert is an incredibly loving, kind, smart, thoughtful, hardworking person with not one bigoted bone in her body. The fact that Roseanne’s reprehensible actions have blown back on the smart, hardworking cast and crew of the show is a real disappointment.

sara gilbert @THEsaragilbert
Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.

andy lassner @andylassner
Not my cup of tea, but Roseanne had a great thing going with her show.

All she had to do was not say something colossally stupid.

That was too tall an order.

Tom Arnold @TomArnold
Ton of respect for Bob Iger. Tough decision with financial consequences for his company but right for America....umm..now don't bug Bob but maybe someone else find out if I'm still banned from all of @ABCNetwork for calling Roseanne Barr out first on her racist conspiracy tweets?

I just fought of something nice I can do coming this summer season, Actress Minnie Driver had said that ABC had "the ethical compunction to cancel "Rosanne" despite the show’s huge numbers." She absolutely right, and she also commented that she her show "Speechless" is about a middle class family just like "Roseanne", but the actors on it are not as racist as Barr was yesterday. So out of respect for Minnie Driver, i'm going binge watch the first two seasons of "Speechless" this summer, to see what it's all about, and then I will watch the show's new season Fridays this Fall on ABC. It seems perfect since "Speechless" will come on after another ABC Comedy that I like "Fresh Off The Boat" and it will be interesting to see how will these two shows will do the 8PM Hour on Fridays, going up against shows like MacGyver, Dynasty, Blindspot, the revived Last Man Standing, and the new series The Cool Kids. In the meantime, I have got a major Web Choice playlist that is sure to close out today's post on a good note, here are some hilarious clips from "Speechless" which showcase the DiMeo family and their so called unique personalities within the series.
