Today's UPDATES

It feels great when you can stand up for yourself and stand up for what you believe is the right thing to do. Yesterday, students from around the United States and overseas got together for what was the largest student protest in American history, with millions of people estimated to have marched throughout the country. the March for Our Lives was a big success with protesters urging for the closing of the gun show loophole, a restoration of the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, and a ban on the sale of high-capacity magazines in the country, all the reasons why to hold a march. The event mostly carried out in Washington D.C. and many famous singers where there to led their voices and songs to the students who were in a lot of pain after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. I watched the March on TV with my Mom and Dad and it was a great to see these kids speaking on their minds about the massive gun violence we are dealing with in this country. One of my favorite moments when one girl threw up on stage out of emotion while giving a very emotional speech, there was a little 9-year-old girl who they said was a surprise guest, and my mom and I didn't believe it  at first until she introduced herself as Yolanda Renee King, the last granddaughter of Martin Luther King and Loretta Scott King. That really blew us away and reminded what her grandfather believe in fifty years ago before he was a victim of gun violence himself, and that really touched me from the heart. The biggest highlight was at end of the march when fellow Stoneman Douglas High School senior Emma González who was able to stand on stage and silence the crowd for six minutes and twenty seconds, which was the length of the Parkland shooting. All and all, it was a day that none of us will forget, and who can forget the highlights of this weekend in sports, well Max Sports has more from the past few days in Basketball and Hockey.

Today I was planning ti talk about the winner of last night's Kids Choice Awards, but I will keep it a little more serious, because last night many celebrities at the award show spojke about the March for Our Lives. The show gave an honor to the people protesting in this incredible movement that occurred on the very same day yesterday, and it was great to hear these celebrities share their thoughts on what they have seen from the protest earlier in the day. Some were at the marches in many areas in California, the same place the Kids Choice Awards were being held, and you should check out Millie Bobby Brown's jacket she wore on stage which said the names of the 17 victims who died in the Parkland shooting, so that's one cool way to honor so many people. Even canadiens from Ottawa, Toronto, and Calgary led a hand in the marches, so to see our neighbors from up the border trying to help out is just wonderful and a few other cities around the world joined in on the movement. When it comes to picking out a topic for #TwitterTrend, it's hard to decide which is the best one, so I'm going with the granddaughter of Martin Luther King Jr. because she brought us something that has been felt in a long time, the dream that MLK believed in. She used his speech and used her own words to deliver one clear and defining statement:  “I have a dream that enough is enough.”

MLK Jrs granddaughter, Yolanda King, on CNN says she wants there to be no guns in this world. Clearly following her grandfather's footsteps advocating for change and peace. She's just nine years old.

Yolanda Renee King. Watch out for her - she is a already a major force for change. Her grandfather is smiling in heaven. #MarchForOurLives

Professor Medley @ProfessorMedley
It's only fitting that Yolanda Renee King would be speaking at a rally to end gun violence given her grandfather and her great grandmother were both killed by humans using guns. #MarchForOurLives

Oh, MLK's granddaughter is speaking and I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying. SO PROUD OF THESE CHILDREN

This was such an incredible moment for me. I was 14 when her grandfather was murdered and it devastated me for weeks. To hear his granddaughter today is bittersweet; I’m inspired by her courage, infuriated that we’ve lost ground on so many social issues. #MarchForOurLives

Ana Navarro @ananavarro
Dear God, please let me live long enough to vote for Martín Luther King’s grandbaby one day.

Come to think of it, this whole post should be dedicated of the March for Our Lives because after seeing all of those kids standing on stage and demand for change to happen in the country, I want to share some, if not all, of the visual highlights of the march in a special edition of Web Choice. According to The Washington Post,  there were many Democrats who at the marches to encourage people in their movement, and many of these Blue Politicians were also Democratic candidates who will be running for office later this year in the 2018 midterms. They participated from the sidelines in the march and they have to  understand that this movement could be one of the key to a major Democratic victory this year, with signs of a Blue Wave and November bleeding Blue getting more and more clear. Only a few Republicans did the same thing as Democrats did yesterday and that's no surprise, one funny thing is that the White House said in response to the March: they "applaud the many courageous young Americans exercising their first amendment rights." but the big question is, where was President Trump when the March took place in Washington D.C.? Trump wasn't in Washington to show full spuuport of these younger americans, but he decided to spend the day in Mar-a-Lago, playing a little golf, and he did not make even one comment directly on the gun-control demonstrations that took place nationwide yesterday. All the more the reasons for younger voter to register this year and vote all the people who will not say or do anything in such a moment of crisis, and I hope when the 2020 Election, we will see change finally happen and it's because we finally had the courage to look both Congress and the White House dead in the eye and tell them that "enough is enough!" Now let's check out what the marches looked like from many different points of view.
