Today's UPDATES

With talk of Super Bowl LII going around, we have talked little about Royal Rumble Weekend this Saturday. It all starts with NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia when Andrade "Cien" Almas puts the NXT Championship on the line against Johnny Gargano in what could be a comeback story for the ages, Gargano has not been the same since being stabbed in back by his former tag team partner Tommaso Ciampa last year. There are matches at TakeOver: Philadelphia like Aleister Black vs Adam Cole in an Extreme Rules match, and how fitting that this match takes place in Philly, the birthplace of ECW. Then, two other titles matches that fight steal the show Saturday Night are Ember Moon defending the NXT Women's Championship against Mae Young Classic runner-up Shayna Baszler, and the Authors of Pain getting one last shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships against Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly of The Undisputed Era. Just last night, it was announced that that the fifth and final match for TakeOver: Philadelphia would be The Velveteen Dream vs Kassius Ohno. Now moving on to the thirty-first annual Royal Rumble, we are not promised just one Royal Rumble match, but two of them, one for the Men and the second for the Women superstars, and boy will I be watching both of them as the Road to WrestleMania is almost upon us. Max Sports will be laying off the coverage of the Super Bowl, at least for now to get geared up for one of the biggest weekends in WWE.

The Oscar nominations are still a buzz around social media, the good news is that there is no talk about #OscarsSoWhite anymore, but the bad news is that some people think that films like Wonder Woman should have been nominated but where completely left out of the mix. It's amazing to me that Wonder Woman was not nominated for anything as it was the one of the most critically acclaimed superhero film of all times, it has won many other awards from other shows but not the Oscars. Luckily, some other great superhero films like Logan and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 were given their dues and were recognized for their work by the Academy Awards, and it's going to be a long shot for them to take home an Oscar. This week's Top Ten list highlights some of the most intriguing nominations and how they took us by surprise last Tuesday when they were announced.

#10: Gary Oldman who starred in Darkest Hour has been nominated for Best Actor award.

#09: Dunrik has been given eight nominations in Best Picture, Director, and many more.

#08: Disney/Pixar's Coco got two nominations in Best Animated Film and Original Song.

#07: Dreamworks' The Boss Baby was surprisingly nominated for Best Animated Film.

#06: Rachel Morrison is the first woman ever to receive a nomination Best Cinematography.

#05: The Shape of Water received the most Oscars nominations with a total of thirteen.

#04: Daniel Kaluuya is nominated for Best Actor for his amazing performance in Get Out.

#03: The writers behind Logan are nominated for the Best Adapted Screenplay award.

#02: Jordan Peele is nominated for Best Director for the critically acclaim film Get Out.

#01: Mary J. Blige is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Mudbound.

You know what, I've changed my mind, we need more Super Bowl coverage as it is and there's something I need to get off my chest. So the New England Patriots are taking on the Philadelphia Eagles, so what? It's not a big deal, these two teams have gone toe-to-toe with each other in the past and on some occasions their games have been bery close. The fact that the 52nd Super Bowl will be rematch from thirteen years ago is a little hard to come by, I was was looking forward to a fresh and new matchup this year and the Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings were the odds on favorites to give us that new match up, and if the Jaguars had not given up their amazing lead in last Sunday's AFC Championship game, then we could have seen a battle of the animals between the Jags and Eagles. Another great would have been the Patriots and Vikings because the Vikings would have had the best advantage by playing in their own stadium in Minneapolis even the Patriots will be the home team for Super Bowl LII, but instead, all we got was two #1 Seeds going at it to see who is Number #1 of the entire 2017-18 NFL Season. In order to understand what the Eagles and Patriots went through to get to this point of the season, Web Choice is here to share the full highlights of last Sunday's Conference Championship games and more.
