Slime Time Showdown is an American children's game show on Nickelodeon. The show aired on September 9, 2013 and is hosted by Kwame Alexander, Noah Munck, Ciara Bravo (Season two) and Rachel Crow. Filming took place both outside and inside of Nickelodeon on Sunset Studio in Hollywood, California. Season two was filmed in Nickelodeon Headquarters in New York City.

Gameplay
Three teams of two players compete in four different games to win points and prizes and qualify for the “Slime 12 Tournament” (a parody of the PAC-12 Tournament) later in the series.

Main Rounds

Pie Roulette
In Season 1 only, the game would open with a toss-up called the “Pie Roulette” determining who goes first, second, and third in the next games. Teams would sit under three flashing colored lights which showed their team colors: red, green, and blue. Then the hosts would ask Nickelodeon-related questions on a given topic. After a team answers a question correctly, they pick a number on a spinning wheel to answer another question. The first two teams to answer three questions correctly would get sprayed with pie cream by the two nozzles above them.

Slime Games
After the Pie Roulette, each team competes in three physical games for different amounts of points and mystery prizes. The first two games pit single members from each team while the last one involves both players on all teams. A game is won when a team finishes first or has the best score or time. A first place team wins prizes worth the most amounts of points; second and third place teams get prizes worth the least amounts. The team with the most points at the end of the show would be the winner, get slimed and qualify for the “Slime Twelve Tournament” later in the season.

During the second slime game, three audience members, one from each section of the studio, would be called down to play in the Pie Roulette contraption. They would sit under the flashing lights which landed on a different team’s color. All three would win a prize for participating, but whoever was sitting under the winning team’s color would get sprayed with pie cream. This segment is not featured during the tournament until the Finals.

Slime Twelve Tournament
The series followed a tournament-style structure that starts with twelve teams qualifying in twelve episodes. Those teams are then narrowed down to six teams during six preliminary episodes, and then three in three semifinal episodes, with the final teams competing in the final episode.

Format changes
For Season 2 (March 2014), the show moved to Nickelodeon headquarters in Times Square, New York with Ciara Bravo added as a co-host. The season finale and celebrity episodes were aired live during Nickelodeon. The Pie Roulette segment is only featured during the first game where one of three teams is eliminated. Three new team colors were added: orange, yellow, and purple.

Double Dare round
The second round (of Season 2) is called the “Double Dare” round using the same game play as the show Double Dare. It began with a toss-up challenge in which two teams competed in. The winner received 25 points and control of the round. After the toss-up, teams answer trivia questions worth 50 points. A dare, double dares and physical challenges are is worth 100 points. “Triple Dare” Challenges allowed a team to make their physical challenge more difficult, increasing its value to 300 points (instead of 100) and putting a bonus prize at stake. Completed challenges won the team points and control of the game; otherwise the points and control went to the opposing team. The team with the highest score at the end of the round wins and moves on to the final challenge of the game.

Slopstacle Course
In the third and final round (of Season 2), the remaining team completes in the “Slopstacle Course” of six obstacles which had to be completed within 45 seconds. Each obstacle has an orange flag either at the end of or hidden within it. The Pie Roulette was transformed into one of the obstacles (either into a soda jerk or a garbage dump). One team member runs the first obstacle, and then passes their flag to their partner, who then moved on to the next obstacle. The team continues to alternate in this manner until they‘ve completed the course or until time runs out. The team won a prize for each obstacle completed, escalating in value up to a grand prize and getting slimed for completing the entire course.

Specials

Celebrity episodes
Celebrity episodes feature Nickelodeon actors and other young actors. The celebrities play for members of the audience selected at random, who wins any prizes won by the celebrities during the game, and is slimed with them at the end. In another episode, the hosts would serve as team captains and lead teams to prizes.
