NY Pilot is
a 2013 three-part episode of Rhodey, NY that
premiered on May 25, 2013 on Nickelodeon. It is the pilot to the television
series and was promoted as a "movie". The television movie stars Kwame
Alexander, Maunda Alexander, Leon Thomas III and Michael Eric Reid.
Plot
Part 1
A few months after the end of NickCam, Rhodey Wilde (Kwame Alexander)
has been packing bags to leave San Francisco and move to a new city. His cousin
Rosanne “Rosey” Kenseth (Maunda Alexander) has a surprise for Rhodey on where
they’re going. She puts three envelopes; one has the name of the city that they’re
going to. Every time Rhodey guesses wrong, Rosey will blow a horn in his ear.
When he finally guesses right, he opens the envelope and then blows the horn in
Rosey’s ear and screams for joy when he finds out they’re going to New York
City. After boarding their plane, Rhodey becomes too impatient and begins
freaking out on the plane. Rosey tells him to read, listen to music, or sleep
for a while. Rhodey tries to listen to music on his new phone and falls asleep.
He dreams about what it would be like in New York and takes a harrowing ride in
a giant metal ball with Will Brooks (Jannae Scott) a girl who he thinks is his
old friend Shirin Busch. Rhodey wakes up and learns that their almost to the
city.
Part 2
Rhodey and Rosey have finally made it to New York City. Rhodey asks
where are they staying at, but Rosey says she didn’t make plans buy a new house
for them. They run into Will who Rhodey remembers from his dream and Rosey
remembers as Shirin. Will looks through Rosey’s bags and steals a pair of her
boots. Rosey runs after her until Will falls on her back. When someone is calling her from a taxi,
Rhodey helps her up and she says thanks. Rhodey says she a nice girl but Rosey
disagrees and attends to follow Will to get revenge. Will have been assorted to
the doctor by her sister Sid (Casey Scott), Andre Harris (Leon Thomas III) and
Garrett Van Cleef (Michael Eric Reid) the twin brother of Sinjin Van Cleef.
Rhodey finds them at the doctors and apologies for the accident. Andre says
that if he needs anything, he can call them, so Rhodey asks for place he and
Rosey can stay. Andre and his friends take Rhodey and Rosey to their boarding
condos where Andre lives with his grandmother (Marilyn Harris). Rosey finds a
condo for her and Rhodey to stay in and decides they could be friends with
Will, Andre, Sid and Garrett.
Part 3
Rosey looks for
a new job and Rhodey assists on going with her. He finds a flyer outside about
the grand opening of Mystic Adventure (a parody of Six Flags Great Adventure).
The two applies for jobs there and meet the Assistant Park Manger Ms. T (Jamie
Snow. She recognizes from a NickCam poster and introduces them to the rest of
the staff and guests. Ms. T likes Rhodey
better than Rosey and orders her work for three hours and Rhodey for 1 ½ hours,
much to Rosey’s surprise. Later, Will, Sid and Andre take Rhodey and Rosey to the
BarbeQuest fast-food restaurant. Rhodey seems to like Will but her mean sister
Sid doesn’t like him so much. When Rhodey holds Will’s hand, Sid says not to
touch her “sister” much to Rhodey’s shock and begins to worry. Back at their
new condo, Rhodey deals with being threatened by Sid and Rosey can’t seem to
get along with Ms. T at the park. They both watch a mash-up video on their
adventures on NickCam which reminds them they can still enjoy their new life in
New York, even if they will have new issues.
